Most Helpful Customer Reviews

Format: MP3 Music
(on a scale of 1-10)

Dance to it: 10

Weirdness: 4 (nothing too odd really, but still hard to call it "normal")

Catchiness: 9 (for the first 3 tracks alone)

Originality: 9

Abrasiveness: 2 (I guess some of the swirling noise may be abrasive to some)

Self Indulgence: 1 (it's hard to say "0" with a remix album)

Experimentation: 8 (again, not odd, but experimental dance in a way)

Desperation: 0

Believability: 10

Darkness: 4 (it has some slightly creepy qualities, but mostly sunny)

Hardcore-ness: 0 (this is FAR removed from their hardcore roots)

Cover Art: N/A (it's not that kind of album)

Genre Purity: 6 (you could say it's pure "dance" but it's eclectic as such)

Offensiveness: 0

Accessibility: 9

Notes: This album starts with 3 very catchy and tightly woven gems, then increasingly unravels into a never-ending mix of long-playing dance music ruminations (even more-so if you have all the bonus remixes) which are generally unrecognizable from the original. Stand-outs include "USA Boys" (check out the music video on Youtube). as well as contributions from Javelin and Tobacco. This is a great album to just dump into a playlist for shuffling with other stuff like Crystal Castles or Pictureplane. In concert they mix this dance music side with their original spazz-core sound to create exhilarating variations on the two; it is a must-see performance! Truly among the best live shows I have ever witnessed (up there with Prince and TVOTR)!
