Book Description

Ciara Blackwell’s intuition told her that people only want to get the best out of you. Still she was faithful to her promiscuous husband just to be left alone while he went to play house with a stripper and his boy toy. Looking for excitement to fill the void, she befriends Tasha, a woman out for revenge, and the scandalous duo come up with a scheme that leaves her life spiraling downward even more.
Caught between Love, Hate, Kill and Take, the only constant in Ciara’s life is drama. She knows first hand about substance abuse and has survived first round knockout fights, tragic losses, and backstabbing only to realize that her life would not get any better than this.
The streets of Chicago will never be the same once she goes head on with her past.

3.0 out of 5 stars All About Me August 22, 2010
Format:Paperback
I can't think of a better title to describe Steven Morgan's book than 'Discombobulated.' From start to finish the reader is riding shot gun through the streets of Chi-town with Ciara as she sorts through the mess that represents her life.

All of a sudden, her husband Shawn isn't happy at home. He's been cheating all along, but now he wants to explore and open door policy. Kim, her best friend, finds it hard to deal with Ciara's pain, as she's never been married and dates for a living. When secrets are revealed, Ciara finds herself navigating the streets alone, fueled by vengeance. Can she ever learn to love again? Or has life shuffled its final blow?

'Discombobulated' is not a bad read. The key elements being drama, colorful characters and secrets, with an overindulgence in the twists and turns department. Some of the more serious issues are modulated and you just want to scream, 'Stop adding so much to the story and work with what you got!' I was torn by main character Ciara as she goes from one extreme to the next without rhyme or reason. I laughed; it's a quick read, but I would recommend the less is more option for next time. Looking forward to checking this author out in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding February 28, 2012
By Dione
Format:Kindle Edition
Discombobulated was an excellent read. I couldn't put it down until I'd finished (1 day later). In a really good book, I become so captivated that I feel like I'm one of the characters. Spellbinding from beginning to end and just when you think you have it figured out, along comes more. I would definitely recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Tale December 6, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Ciara Blackwell knows that her husband has been cheating on her for quite some time. Things come to a head when her husband decides that the grass is greener on the other side. Devastated and confused, Ciara begins a cycle of self-destruction. Ciara also meets a new friend named Tasha. Soon Ciara and Tasha run different schemes for money and revenge. But their high risk lifestyle could have deadly consequences when they cross the wrong people.

Discombobulated is an interesting tale by Steven Morgan. Morgan introduces us to the fractured marriage that Ciara is in. This book is chock full of drama and craziness that will keep you glued to the pages. This was a good story but it seemed like something was missing. Different situations were happening without a proper background as to why certain things were done. The characters weren't developed enough to connect you to the story, and at times, it felt completely rushed. Discombobulated is still a decent debut novel by Steven Morgan.

I had to reread a few lines more than a couple of times just to figure out who was talking? or was that just the version I received? Anyway it was okay, same storylines from other books. The good thing about it was that it was free and I read it to pass the time on the commuter bus!

4.0 out of 5 stars Discombobulated February 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was already a fan of Steven's before reading Discombobulated after reading some of his later work. But once I went back and read some of his earlier work it is safe to safe that he has me as a fan for life. Discombobulated was a treat to read. Following Ciara and the people that she hold's dear to her heart through the streets of Chicago had me feeling the deep depth of pain that this character experienced. I am glad that I read this book it will have me taking not only the different women in my life with more respect and admiration but the human race in general. Discombobulated is a must read for all fans of great Fiction.

Steven Morgan has shown his skills as a writer with his novel DISCOMBOBULATED. The book delivers the readers flawed characters that are all dealing with their own dirt and insecurities while at the same time it is hard for you not to feel some sympathy for some of them. Well-written intrigue with lessons to be learned, DISCOMBOBULATED is one to definitely put on your must-read list.
