This is what ravin' to Trance is all about...,

WOW!!! That's right, I said WOW!!! Gatecrasher's newest release (Discotech Generation) is absolutely awesome and inspiring from beginning to end. Featuring two CD's of some the hottest in progressive, driving, and emotive Trance mixed by one of the finest Trance DJ's in the world. Scott Bond, a personal favourite of mine - who's not only mixed all of the Gatecrasher compilations, but has been Gatecrasher's head resident DJ since the beginning. Gatecrasher has never been about the DJ; unlike other clubs and record labels that try to cash in on the popularity of the modern DJ. Instead - they've released a series of some of the most successful, and sought after dance compilations that focuses solely on the music, the vibe, and the people of Gatecrasher. This is trance at it's best featuring some of best original and remixed material from the likes of Max Graham, Hyrbid, Chab, and DJ Tiesto...plus loads more. Discotech Generation truly makes me feel as though I'm either at a rave, or there at Gatecrasher...in person. And in my opinion, there's no other full-on commercial trance compilation out there that has made me feel this way. And in the end; it's not what you think of the music that counts, it's how the music makes you feel. DJ Scott Bond and Gatecrasher are back in top form. I haven't enjoyed a DJ mixed CD this much since the first ever Gatecrasher CD I listened to. *****ESSENTIAL***** Don't just listened to it...close your eyes and feel it!

Lacking Gatecrasher Quailty,

I've been into trance for many years now and am familiar with true pieces of art and sad money wasting albums. Unfortuantly this album is a sad money wasting album. Scott Bond is an excellent Dj and I've heard much better than this from him. This CD mainly contains a few good tracks that I like to listen to occaisionlly but for the most part this CD contains no solid feeling trance and you'll get tired of listening to it after several tracks. Gatecrasher puts out an excellent series so if you are looking for something good try Gatecrasher Red, Wet, or Black. These are the true pieces of art and are worth every penny spent. All in all, stay away from this album and disappointment will stay away from you.

Riding the roller-coaster of emotional intensity this album gives you an unexpected ride. Firsty I had been entertained by the 'merry go round' - like spin of "Global Sound System" which contained modern music methods and some orignal samples. But with DTG. I was taken un-aware by the psycologicaly structured beats and refined sound of original mixes of this pill-on-a-disk. This is music that takes you on a pleasure trip higher and higher, suddenly dropping your thoughts and emotions on a seemingly one way trip back to (your) reality... And when you stop. At the Bottom. And take a breath, you will state emphaticly "im doing this again" at it will be a truth, not a request."An almost spiritual experience" p.s. Sorry about the speelling =P

Gatecraher at its best,

Dont listen to the other reviews who really have no idea and decided to buy a cd just because they heard the word "Gatecrasher" somewhere. Its obvious these people are going to be disappointed because they have dont really know what kind of music theyll be listening to. Americans still have a lot to learn when it comes to trance. If you know trance, love it and listen to it youll KNOW that Scott Bond is one of the best DJs in England, and is completing i think it is his third year residency at Gatecrasher. Gatecrasher Discotech Generation is amazing, please dont be fooled by people who dont know anything and write reviews but have no basis for what they are saying. If you want the very best of "eurotrance" with songs that take you to the very core of the "DISCOTECH GENERATOR" buy this cd.

I have owned this album for almost four years now, and still listen to it frequently. Certain voices out there claim that this is, or is one of, the worst albums in the Gatecrasher series. I would strongly beg to differ. All of the Gatecrasher compilations contain at least some level of cheese in them, but this album is one of the least guilty. There are a number of rather average tracks, possibly as much as thirty percent of the tracklist. However, certain tracks still strike me with the same level of awe and even astonishment as when I first heard them, especially the Future Sound of London, Wheed Baskin, Moogwai and Lostit.Com tracks. Perhaps one of the greatest flaws is the track sequencing on the second disc, where the superb 'Lost Emotions' by Fire & Ice, the climax of the disc, is followed by twenty more minutes of uninspiring music.
Nonetheless, "Discotech Generation" is far superior to the absolute cheese-fest of "Wet", for example, and anything that comes out of Ministry of Sound. A worthy, if not perfect album.

"Animal" on CD2 is a totally amazing song. It has a strong, fast beat and would be awesome to hear in a club. Until then, I have to blast it in my car.
The rest of the album is, "ok." It's not bad, but...

Ive been going to clubs, parties and listening to trance and house music for about 4 or 5 years. I have to say, this is one of my all time favorite CD's. I've listened to it over and over, and still cant stop listening to it months later.

I was wondering what all the "Gatecrasher" hype was about. Everyone seems to be euphoric about "Gatecrasher compilations" and talks about them as if they're creme-de-la-creme. So I decided to go out and see what the hype was all about.By the way, let me say that I judge music by its quality, NOT by some famous DJ or famous club name. Saying things like "buy it just because it's Oakenfold" or "just because it's Gatecrasher" is utter folly to me. I was so disappointed with this set that I returned it the next day. What repetitive, monotonous noise! No feeling, no emotion, no peaks but some bland and drawn-out noises that really bored me. I tried to give it a chance and listened to it on a hi-fi system and it still left me completely indifferent. Basically this style is called "progressive," I guess. If you're into progressive you may dig this. But I was hoping for some melodies, some exciting beats and an uplifting mood. Very disappointing -- and all this "Gatecrasher" hype is so overrated.

I am like many a new trance listeners who go to their local Tower or Virgin and look at the sea of random dance comps. in the techno section and wonder, whats good? With retailers not giving the option of listening to or returning CD's, Amazon is a good place to find what you like. Unless you have DSL and can download everything, your like me and need to rely on those real player clips and these reviews, and so, for you, heres my helpful view of this album. Don't buy this CD! Every track you wait and wait for a melody to spawn or build to a climax. Trust me, it never happens. (...) Don't let this review turn you off of Gatecrasher however. (...) The second CD of Gatecrasher limited is good. It's the one with the green griffon. Hope this helped all you trance listeners out there. Stay safe, and drive safe!!
