Without a firm background in linguistics and discourse analysis as well as sound footing in Spanish literature this text would be difficult to follow. Various opinions are discussed as well as the author's own opinions. Well argued although not all are thorough. Very well done but a very hard read for the uninitiated. Would be much more accessible if the author tried not to impress the discourse analysis elite. Too bad because the basics would be very interesting to Spanish literature students.
