5.0 out of 5 stars One great compact kitchen!
I recommend this kitchen to anyone w/ a child under 2 because of its size. My daughter doesn't stand to well yet. But she likes to sit in the floor and play with it. Since it is not very tall she is able to reach everything while sitting. Her favorite thing is to put the ice cubes in the dispenser and then get them back out. Which is educational for learning shapes...

3.0 out of 5 stars The good the bad and the teeny tiny
First, the good. I bought this toy for my daughter's 1st birthday. Her grandma bought her the Nesting Pots and Pans. She really enjoyed putting the pots and pans in the microwave and over. She also liked using the shape sorter on the fridge and pushing the button to release the shapes. Now the bad. It is a TEENY TINY kitchen. Do not expect your child to grow with this...

Since it is not very tall she is able to reach everything while sitting. Her favorite thing is to put the ice cubes in the dispenser and then get them back out. Which is educational for learning shapes. Also the stove that bubbles and sizzles is so cute and not to loud. This kitchen is very compact and doesn't take up much room. I was looking for a kitchen that had everything and this one does. For the price this is a great value and a great starter kitchen. My daughter has every toy imaginable and out of all them this is her favorite. I also added a cash register and some play food w/ this and she plays for hours.

She also liked using the shape sorter on the fridge and pushing the button to release the shapes. Now the bad. It is a TEENY TINY kitchen. Do not expect your child to grow with this toy. In fact, I had put mine into storage when my daughter was 15 mo old. She still plays with the pots and pans. But this kitchen is not for playing pretend. The features are too small to cook or wash dishes. If your child tries to stand next to it he or she will tower over it. It is great for an infant who can sit up on her own, but not for a child who wants to have make-believe play.

1.0 out of 5 stars more dangerous than fun, October 14, 2000

I bought the Little Tikes discovery sound kitchen for my 9 month old granddaughter. She liked the different shapes and putting them in the right holes in the frig and pushing the green button to retrieve them. BUT, she pinched her cute little fingers several times in the top of the frig door. Secondly, the kitchen is easily pulled over and in opening the frig door she repeatedly pulled the kitchen over on top of her. Needless to say, I returned the toy the next day.

I cannot say enough good things about this kitchen! We bought it when our daughter was 9 months old, and she still plays with it at 16 months. She has honestly played with this more than any other toy she's gotten. I try to alternate groups of toys (as she gets bored easily), but this is one that is a constant.

I remember how thrilled we were that she figured out the shapes (ice cubes in the refrigerator door) the day we gave it to her, and we feel it helped her figure out other toys with shapes. She also quickly discovered how to get the dishes to make the cooking sounds, and she loves that! She carries the phone around everywhere and puts all kinds of things in the oven, refrigerator and microwave--only to be tickled when she finds them later! An added bonus is that the utensils make a great teether.

Since this adorable kitchen keeps her busy for quite awhile, I don't mind it being a part of our living room decor. We also used to put it right in the playpen! It's very durable, just the right height, and easy to clean. When others come over, this is what gets played with the most. I HIGHLY recommend it for your child, and I'm picky! :)

This was a gift for my daughters 1st birthday. She loves it - she stacks the pots and pans and loves the "ice". She puts all sorts of thinks in the oven and fridge. Her big brother (who's 3) loves playing with her and is showing her how to make all the "sounds"

I bought this toy for my son whose 14mths old. He loves to open and close the fridge door, the micro, the oven and put in the shapes and presses the button to let them all fall out - exactly what this toy was designed to do - KEEP KIDS BUSY!!!He plays with it on and off all day and incorporates it into other areas of play like with his farm animals or puts his sippy cup in the fridge. It has been a saving grace for me with an active toddler who loves to get into stuff. This keeps him busy, busy, busy. It's not super "kitcheny" for those of you who think a kitchen play area is just for girls which is why I like it. A great toy!

My daughter received this for her first birthday in May 2000. That first day she spent 45 minutes non-stop playing with it. She still plays with it almost every day. She especially loves opening and closing all the doors. She also enjoys "talking" on the phone. This toy is durable and keeps her attention.

This was easily her favorite birthday gift.

I read the reviews for this toy but had already bought it. I got it for my daughter when she was 9 months old and loved it at first she was obsessed with it. But according to the box it was great for kids up to 3yrs my daugter was sick of it by the time she was 20 months it is to short for her and just isnt interesting enough so I'm looking for a full size one now. I regret not doing that in the first place I think she would have loved it too even at 9 months she had to sit to play with it. So even know it was a neat toy I recommend getting one that will last longer they make them fullsize with no chokeable parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful first kitchen, March 15, 2001

I bought this kitchen for my 9 month old daughter and she loves it! She loves to sit in front of it and open the doors on it. She also likes the sounds that it makes. She sits in front of it and will play with it for quite a while. We also have the nesting pots and she uses those with it. I agree with one of the other reviewers that it does tip easily if pushed against and should be braced against something to be on the safe side for babies. I would recommend that the age range of the toy be changed from 9-36 months to 9-24 months. 2 year olds usually want to play with a kitchen they can stand at that is bigger. This is a wonderful toy and I also bought the Discovery workshop for my friends 9 month old son and he loves it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for Little Ones, but Topples Easily, October 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Discover Sounds Kitchen (Toy)
Good Points:
For the past few months, the kitchen has been able to entertain our 11 month old son.
It's his favorite toy to play with for 15-20 minutes at a time in the morning before he heads off to daycare.
The refrigerator door is designed with a lot of space behind it so little fingers can't get caught when it is opened all the way.
It has enough extra pieces to amuse our child, but not too many that it is difficult to find them when cleaning the play area.
It is not too big to use in a small apartment with limited play space.

Bad Points:
The shape sorter feature does not work. All of the shapes fit into all of the holes.
When our son tried to use the kitchen for stability when he was learning to walk, it toppled many times.
When he used it as support when standing up from the floor, it fell on him. (He did not get hurt during these falls since the "kitchen" is light.

Overall, it's worth the money as a "first" kitchen.
