Discover Your Nutritional Style is a bit of a misnomer - what we have is a book devoted to women looking and feeling well, through nutrition, yes, but also including things like recipes for scented baths, facial scrubs, lavender scents on the pillow, and avocado-honey hair masks (all varying by season). I worry that readers may think the book is one thing when in truth it is a completely different animal. Holistic and homeopathic are the key words here.

The contents of the book are as follows: Introduction/author's personal story; What's your nutritional style?; It's food not religion; Dangerous Liaisons; Cleansing in style; Healing in style; Enter Spring; Ease into Summer; Autumn arrives; Winter warmth; Recipes for your nutritional style; Resources, index.

Most of the nutritional commentary, which is sprinkled throughout, deals with cleansing. There is a diet plan - involving 1 week to ease into better eating, 2 weeks of following the recipes, then another week after easing out. The emphasis is on losing 10 pounds rather than something for those who have a lot of weight to lose. This is evidenced, e.g., by tips throughout that focus on things like bloating from eating fruits and testimonials that typically are about women who can't lose a few pounds. The title is derived from a quick quiz to determine if the reader prefers vegan, modified vegan, or non vegan meals. I didn't really feel people needed a quiz to figure that out.

There is good nutritional information in here but it isn't a science type book. Clearly, author Thompson is appealing to the vanity and self perception aspects of women to create a reason to eat healthier. That's not necessarily a bad approach and certainly appearance is a compelling reason to eat healthier.

I have been a huge fan of Holli Thompson for a long time. I love opening my email and receiving her weekly newsletter with spot on health information, and incredible recipes. I'm so excited to have all her incredible recipes and nutritional style advice in one beautiful book. For those of you looking for a guide on how to eat best for your personal lifestyle, this is it! And if you're not a huge fan of cooking, Holli makes it easy- that's what I love most about her recipes and her advice- they are extremely accessible. Brava Holli on an amazing book!

Holli Thompson is a health guru! It is a such a "must read" that I purchased 5 books and gifted them to my closest friends. It's been so fun to share our nutritional style quiz with each other! I love how this book is as much a personal story about Holli's journey into the world of nutrition as well as an incredibly insightful read. The book is filled with nuggets of invaluable information related to things we all experience and are curious about in our own unique way (how to manage stress, skin break outs, how to do a proper cleanse, what to eat as the seasons change, and how to cook delicious recipes to guide us through.) This book will definitely drive you to take a good closer look at how your nutrition affects every bit of you and how we can all find ways to create a more balanced, healthy, healing way of life that suits each of us individually! I promise after reading this book you'll find the healthiest and happiest version of yourself! Thanks Holli for inspiring us to get our guts in gear... and persuading us to do it with style and grace :) I'm a "Flexible Vegetarian" and I truly recommend this book!

If you're only going to read one book about nutrtition, this is the one to get. Holli Thompson offers common-sense nutritional advice in an easily accessible format. Reading this book is like having a conversation with a good friend who really cares about you. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach to healthy living, instead, the author assists the reader in finding a solution that works for their individual life style. If you're at all interested in living a healthier life, I highly recommend this book.

Holi is a GENIUS and I am so excited about this book. I had one interaction with Holi about eating healthier and it changed my life. Anyone looking to look beautiful and put healthy things in your body but no clue where to start this is FOR YOU. I was always worried that I needed to go vegan and eat gross food everyday but Holi is brilliant and turns this process into easy steps. Thank you Holi for this and for all you do

A refreshing approach to feeling good about the diet you choose for yourself. Holli's non-dogmatic approach to the different styles of healthy eating eliminate any pressure one might feel to choose a popular, possibly rigid nutritional plan. Her most powerful point is that we are all unique and need to choose our food accordingly. One of the reasons this is a great gift book is that it appeals to all of us, beginners on a search for health as well as seasoned "healthies" (not a fan of the word "health nut" because the people who aren't eating organic these days are the true nuts:) Another reason you should buy this book for all of your friends is that it is absolutely attractive, as is Holli and her style. Her essence is not only outwardly beautiful but beautiful inside as well. The information in this wide-ranging book can be taken in with confidence as her life is a personal testament to the wisdom and knowledge she imparts. Holli's candor, vulnerability and honesty make this book one to which we can all relate and makes it an even more interesting read. Love the recipes!
