This book is a new comer to the burgeoning number of metaphysical books that are available today, but this one is anything but "run of the mill". Sherrie Dillards unassuming style and embraceable approach to spiritual development in this, her first book, takes the reader by the hand and instead of coming from the perspective of a gifted psychic teaching the "uninitiated" - as so many books of this nature do, she leads you through a Myers Briggs-like examination of your own inherent psychic abilities as one caring friend might accompany another. I found this book to be not only an enjoyable read, but one I will actually re-read and study for its fresh, encouraging, and effective approach to Spiritual development. I agree - We all as "Spiritual beings having a physical experience" possess some degree of inherent intuitive ability. This author can help you identify where your abilities naturally manifests, and she can help you develop that ability to the extent you are willing open your mind and heart to the possibility. I sincerely hope this will be the first of many books from this new Author.

What i loved about this book is that it establishes very basic types of intuitives. and it's not based on the different types of "claires' (voyance, audience, etc). It breaks it down to 4 types; Emotional, Mental, Physical, and Spiritual intuitive. It's kind of like learning about how you learn (visual, audio, kinesthetic, spatial, etc) and using that to learn better and faster.
This book has you take a questionnaire and depending on the answers it describes what intuitive type you are. It then describes what kind of exercises to do that will help use what comes naturally to you. This will allow the reader to enhance their innate abilities and use it as a means to work on being other types. When I read my type (Mental intuitive) it described me to a T! Then when I had my friend do it was also pretty accurate (Emotional). Turns out she's the yin to my yang :D or vice versa LOL. I always thought we balanced each other out :D

I think that this book would make all those other development books easier to utilize as it may give you a better understanding of how to approach the exercises and how to avoid pitfalls that your type may be prone to. Such an Awesome find!

If you are interested in understanding more about your intuition and you can buy just one book on your next trip to the bookstore, make it this one. There's far more useful information in this book than you'd expect and the author's down-to-earth style makes it an easy read. I have dozens of books on this subject, but this one is possibly the best...at the very least it's among my top three. Many of my other titles are like appetizers - they just dont' satisfy your hunger....this book is a seven-course meal. After I bought it, it sat on my coffee table for a week before I started reading it....and then I couldn't put it down. It answered many of my questions and many questions I hadn't thought to ask. I feel more confident, like I know my 'self' better than I did before, I believe in myself just a little bit more. I love this book! I'm buying several copies for friends and relatives for Christmas.

I ordered this book becasue I am a teacher and my in my job I depend on my intuition. Ms. Dillard's book explains how we use our natural insight and intuition in our daily lives. This book not only helped me identify how my own intuition works it also helped me trust myself more and see how I can continue to develop this very important part of myself. Most of the time we talk and read about concrete reality but underlying that is another level of reality that we can't see but that in many ways is more 'real' and as the book says, very important to understand because this reality is eternal and we are connected to enternity through our own spirituality... through our own intuition. As strange as this may sound, I found this book, "Discovering Your Psychic Type" to be one of the most practical books I have ever read. What I learned in it is not only helping me to be better in my work but I am feeling more connected to the meaning and joy in my life.

I traveled eight hours round trip a day for weekly classes with Sherrie Dillard a couple of years ago and found her natural, unpretentious, a regular person, and one of the most gifted intuitives and teachers I have ever met. Recently I checked her website and found that she had published this book. I ordered it and devoured it. It is just like her--no ego and no attempt to set herself apart from the rest of us or capitalize on her gift in the way some psychics do. She explains in very intelligent and clear ways how we all have intuition and how we are different in our initial ways of accessing it. Then she shows how to use our gifts as our spiritual path to union with God. Anyone of any religious background can appreciate and use it. She puts psychic ability in its proper perspective. Someone who has seen spirits from childhood is no more intuitive than someone who has great empathy for the feelings of others or is highly attuned to the earth or to animals, and certainly no more intuitive than Einstein who she categorizes as a mental intuitive. Also I see on her website that she is offering not only readings but coaching on intuitive/spiritual development by phone. I am sending copies of this book to several people I care about. I wish everyone could read it.

I have been waiting for this book. If you have ever wondered that you "might" be psychic...........This is the one {person,lady, author} to help you sort it out. I have read several other ones trying to glean some insight into myself, what I have felt,and the general "strange stuff going on in my life" All they did was "tell me what Iam not" This book lays it pretty much all out there for YOU to choose from. There are like four or five sections that describe different types of Psychic-ness?...if it {something strange} has happened to you or if you have felt some of these things going on in your life,..it will ring true when you read it. There is even a ,..like scoring system to help you deduce from "your own" experiences what "type' you are, and GREAT! meditations to help you work with it.{your type} I had bought a c.d. from this same author{healing Temple?} its a guided meditation about a hour long. WELL..... it could be 3 hrs long that would be better! The lady has a ultra soothing /loving voice. I am hoping she will come out with the meditations in the book on audio . The meditations kind of read the same...but if you actually DO them 1 by 1 they all have a very different effect.

Sherrie Dillard has given us a gift of love and insight and Spirit. She has woven together a vision and a path to open the heart, mind, body and spirit. I am deeply grateful she has written this book. I highly recommend Discover your Psychic Type to all who wish to understand their psychic intuitive natures and who wish to understand the power and transformative capacity we all hold. I found myself laughing and crying as I read along and my heart opening as I resonated with the truth I found. Drink deeply and enjoy! There is transformation in the pages.

For anyone who believes they have psychic abilities this book is for you. Most books I have read on the subject pretty much say the same thing. It was an interesting perspective from the author's point of view.

This book is well written as the author has first hand experience into this world of Intuition and is not using other people's work but her own. She gives readings and classes and knows what she is talking about. It is good to find a book that talks about the different types of Intuition and she gives a fascinating questionaire to fill out to find out what type you are and then explains the differences. There are meditations for the different types and I found the book most enlightening after many years of thinking and wondering about this psychic world. We all have the ability to do this type of work and the author is very positive about using what we know and expanding on it. It was most encouraging to read this book as I know that I have had many things happen or I have made decisions that worked out well and now I know why and am quite excited about the truth of what is really available to us all if we just open our minds to the possibilities that this author explains.

This main value in this book is that it can direct your attention towards the gifts that you already have. What is important about that, is that from there you can continue to develop your talents into more useful abilities. She writes with a genuine love that makes it possible to trust that she has the best of intentions for you. Her breakdown of the psychic types is very beneficial for self reflection and personal growth.
