I don't tend to write negative reviews, but when I sense that the company I'm doing business thinks they can deceive people with their false advertisement, I feel it a public responsibility to let everyone know. This miserable trend of assuming the customer is dumb must be wiped off the planet. I wish I could talk about the quite helpful features of the card, but this one deceit multiplies all my experience with 0. I'm copying the exact statement above that led me to believe that I will be getting the gift card so you can judge for yourself (on the legalese fine print that generally contains the statements that protect the company, not the customer):
"Get a $75 Amazon.com Gift Card when you are approved for a Discover it card and make your first purchase within 3 months of approval. Offer only available to new cardmembers. Offer not available to college students. Gift card will be sent within 8 weeks after first purchase. One gift card per account."
And this is what I was told by the customer representative after 8 weeks: I'm sorry, but you were not approved for that offer, here's your lame 0 apr purchases for some months instead. I'm not sure what "offer" he was talking about, but this statement above directly says I should be getting the gift card once I'm approved for a Discover It card, and let me check my wallet, yeah I've got a Discover It card, but no gift card. So it's just another classic bait-and-switch.
In short, unless you don't mind being deceived, stay away from this card. I don't get cheated twice, so I'm closing mine.
P.S. I'm not a student, and yes, I did apply to this card through this offer and used this card to purchase within 3 months (I read terms)
