This review is from: Discoveries of a Hidden Past (Paperback)
Discoveries of a Hidden Past is a beautifully written story about choices, about relationships, and about family secrets. Having earned her degree in clinical psychology, Marion Selmann finds herself at a crossroads in life-- Should she set up her practice in Montreal, the city she has grown to love, or return to California in order to be near her family, whom she adores? On the heels of her decision to remain in Montreal, Marion receives an offer of marriage from her long-time lover, Jonathan. As she begins her journey into matrimony, and then motherhood, Marion is faced with more decisions as she explores her beliefs on religion, fidelity, and the task of balancing her high-stress career with her role as a wife and mother. When a family secret is revealed, Marion must also come to terms with the hidden truth about her parentage, and how decisions made long ago have impacted her life and made her the woman she has become. In this fictional character, Anne Lebrecht takes a look at the real-life choices every woman must make, and offers her readers touching insights into the complex inner workings of human relationships. I enjoyed this book very much!

"Discoveries Of a Hidden Past" The second novel by Anne Lebrecht
will surprise you with the debth the author has achieved in her characters. Mystery about her father, keeps you intrigued while you explore some deep discussions about contemporary lives. Marion Selman is the daughter of janet Selman from the author's first book "Memories of a Forgatten Past." Marion has graduated University and is now a psychologist faced with some major decisions. An unexpecetd proposal of marriage that confuses her along with a love of one city, Montreal with her desire to please her mother in Los Angeles. The discovery of who her father is, reveal to her the fact that she has been betrayed by those she thought had loved her. She search for a faith in herself and for her patients in order to heal them as well as discover herself. I was unable to put this book down from the very first page. I felt deeply for her anguish at times and was intrigued by the religious and moral discussions. Once read this book will linger on your mind and in your thoughts for a long time. I suggest you read this one and the author's other book. I already look forwards to the next one! Pierrette Lili Camps author of "Le Cafe'de Cadix" |
