A 5 in my book is a book that I can't put down, that I loved to read, and that I think I will read again. A 4, is a book that I liked. I enjoyed it. It was really good, but I probably won't read it again, but would recommend to others. A 3, is something that was okay. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I may or may not recommend it to others to read. It was just 'eh', as I like to say.
I can say, it wasn't a 5. I may refer back to it, but I won't read it again, and I certainly didn't love it. I felt like a 4 would be somewhere in the ball park, but it wasn't what I classified as *really* good. However, I loved the point of the book. I would recommend it to others. Therefore, it was kind of a 4, but not quite a 3. Hence, 3.5.
The basis, the meat, the purpose of the story was great. The first few chapters I really enjoyed. Then it started sounding like a broken record.
I felt it was very repetitive the entire book. The same things were being said over and over and over. They weren't said in different ways either. It was the same thing.
The book felt incredibly long and it took quite the amount of time for me to finish it. I think it's because after the first few chapters, it became repetitive and much harder for my attention to remain on the book, the words, the pages.
I must also admit that I felt there was a chapter, that in my own personal opinion, was unnecessary. Note, that is just MY personal opinion.
Outside of those minor things, I really felt that the point of the book was excellent.Read more ›
An incredibly insightful look at just what charisma is by taking a look at some of those people who we are pretty clear about having "it", such as Oprah, Andy Warhol, and even Abraham Lincoln. Rowland spends time dissecting charisma, giving us a list of the qualities that constitute charisma and how they are tied to our personalities. Some of the key areas in her book deal with developing and enhancing charisma for those of us who are not those natural born charismatic giants. There are some solid ideas and action steps given for anyone interested in developing and nurturing charisma in their lives. Equally as important, I found the discussion on spirituality and knowing oneself to be indispensable. In truth, aren't we more confident and "alive" when we are comfortable with our surroundings and who we are? I know I am.
I found this to be the most thorough, well-researched and well written book on the subject of charisma and the "it factor" that I have seen to date. It covers all of the bases and does so with ease. Rowland is an excellent writer and brings a personal touch to her work. I think it's safe to say that she is a credible source as someone who has "It".
