Really clear writing; good info,

Excellent book for both beginners and intermediate developers. I learned Fusebox the hard way, piecing together info from various sites. It wasn't easy, but Fusebox was worth it. Now, I manage a team of developers, all of who use FB. We find it usually takes people about a week of working with it to really "get it". We hired two new people, gave them this book, and when they finished they "got it" more than some of my older developers! Anyway, a very good book.

Very clear and easy to understand,

I own both this book and Nat and Joe's book. Both are very good, but this one excels at being concise and to the point. I've had two people who I tried to explain Fusebox to, but they couldn't get it. I gave them Discovering Fusebox and they "got it". Extremely clear with tutorials and example app. The book doesn't cover the Flip methodology, so if you want that, you might want to buy Nat's book too.

A hands on approch of the ABC's of Fusebox,

Techpedition is a navigation into knowledge. That what written on the front cover and they deliver! This book gave me it is worth within the first three chapters. I bought other books on the subject; they were great but left me struggling figuring out the geeky terms and confused. Fusebox can be very complex and they covered it marvellously but where do you turn too to understand the basics of the Fusebox architecture? I admit that could not pay for the high costs of a course. Then Hal Helms and John Quarto-vonTivadar came out with just what I needed. They have thought to thousands and they offered me there knowledge in a way that encourages me to jump in and enjoy in a concise manner without prior knowledge. The author's takes us in a friendly manner in incremental steps to grasp the fundamentals that made me think for myself. The book aims the technical person wanting to jump in without studying a brick of paper. Consider it your personal tutor. It worked for me. You will be thinking like a web architect in no times flat!

Good introduction to Fusebox,

I found the book very clear and helpful. I had heard a lot about Fusebox before, but was always a bit leery of plunging in -- afraid I'd get lost. A great deal of care was put in this book to make sure that it conveys a lot of information while remaining easy to understand. In fact, it was so clear and easy to read, I had my manager read it and *he* even got it! Good book. Highly recommended.

Its Fusebox 3, But...,

I have a lot of short notes to make about this book. First, I want to say the only reason I rated the book a 4 instead of a 5 was because I already had a fair understanding of Fusebox 3 before buying the book. With that said, my notes are as follows:1.) Its a very short and very easy read. I finished the entire book, front to back, in about a half a day. Granted, I already knew the basics of FB 3, but I wanted to hone my skills and learn more. 2.) The book was very easy to follow. Maybe this was because I was already familiar with Fusebox 3, or simply because things were explained very well. Only Appendix A was slightly confusing, but after a second browse through I understood what they were saying quite well. 3.) If you already know Fusebox, this book might or might not be for you. It goes over all the elements that comprise Fusebox 3, which were not too hard to learn in the first place. However, it does show you the inner workings of Fusebox, which gives you a better understanding for what is happening. Plus, I learned a thing or two that I had no idea I could do with Fusebox prior to reading the book! 4.) If you don't know Fusebox, get this book! Granted you can learn Fusebox on the Internet for free, but you will get a much better understanding, and pick it up much quicker if you can dedicate 4 to 6 hours to read this book front to back. I also highly suggest creating your own Fusebox applications either while reading this book or afterwards. It gives you a much better feel for what is going on and how FB really works. 5.) This is the only Fusebox 3 book out there as of July, 2002. If you want a FB 3 book, this is your only choice. In conclusion: I only wish I had this book when I decided to pick up Fusebox.

Finally a definitive Fusebox reference,

As an American living overseas, it is sometimes hard to find decent internet texts in English. I was really happy to get this concise, to-the-point book from Amazon.com, and it answered all of the questions about Fusebox lingering in my head. This was a clear well-written guide to understanding core Fusebox principles and how to use them in real circumstances (not just a set of someone's best practices suggestions). Now I know why Fusebox is so popular and I hope these guys write more books because I found their explanations of complex ideas to be very easy to understand.I'm using this as a reference text for teaching Fusebox to some of my colleagues who do not speak English. The only drawback I noticed was the numbering of the paragraphs -- at first it confused me what they were for, but then afterwards I realized it made it very easy to refer to specific sections that I still had questions about. I wrote to the authors and just by mentioning the paragraphs' numbers they were able to immediately steer me in the right direction for clarification. It saved me time and it saved them time (which is probably why they did it!) Can't wait to see other volumes in the CodeRutters series!

Hal Helms is the "Godfather of Fusebox". After reading Hal's articles and newsletter on Fusebox, I was thrilled to finally see that he had written a book and more thrilled that it's all I hoped for. Very well written, very clear. Even some of the hard concepts (like recursive calls to the fusebox) are made plain. Nested layouts, which baffled me, I finally get, and they're great!I also like the fact that all the paragraphs are numbered for easy reference. This makes the index very useful and the glossary in front of the book quickly acquaints readers with Fusebox terms.

Helms and Quarto-vonTivadar bring the tight focus of the Techspedition "Code Rutters" series to Fusebox. This book provides the information ColdFusion programmers need in order to write great Fusebox-compliant applications. Leaving the discussions of methodology and lifecycle to other books, this volume teaches Fusebox coding, plain and simple. If you follow Hal's monthly column on ColdFusion development, this is a must-have addition to your library.

This book is a basic tutorial, and not the best. Consider buying the New Riders book, much more in depth, and worth every penny.
