Book Description

For people interested in the question of whether we can know God, this book steps you through basic ways to pursue your exploration. See how a dozen converging lines of evidence lead to a powerful argument for thinking, open-minded people.
See satisfying answers to key questions:
How God authenticated himself in a way that rules out coincidence or fakery?
How can it be possible to confidently know when God is speaking?
How could ancient prophets predict the exact date of Jesus's death hundreds of years in advance?
How did an astonishing and unique event in recent history point directly to the existence of God?
Why does my own consciousness point to the existence and nature of God?
If you want to explore faith, or you have a friend you would love to see move toward believing, this short book has an excellent record of changing people's minds about God.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Terms are well defined and one is pleased with the crisp, direct description of the arguments. The tone of the book is one which keeps the reader interested and challenged. This is the right book for those seeking, but even Christians can have their minds and hearts enlightened by some of the topics in this volume... it does an admirable task of covering many of the current questions that inquirers may have. It is a gateway book for questioners of the faith. That is how impressed I am with the message and structure of this book. It is an excellent tool!
Donald K. Wood, M.D. for The Journal of the Christian Medical and Dental Society

From the Author

Based on this book and its forerunner I have received literally hundreds of emails from strangers saying something to the effect, "I've never believed in God until now. But after reading this book...." It's amazing to think that most agnostic or atheistic people are completely unaware of some of the main reasons for faith!

5.0 out of 5 stars My story December 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
When I did not expect it, God brought this book to my attention. Having embraced atheism for my entire adult life, I eagerly first turned to the chapter addressing atheism. While reading, sitting at my kitchen table, God used this book to open my mind to the reality of his presence. When I at last realized He was real, I can only describe my reaction as feeling like somehow I'd come home after a long, weary absence. I have now spent nearly 8 years in His presence, and it keeps getting better and better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and Concise November 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I find this book to be a necessary read for anyone who has even a spark of interest in whether or not 1) God exists, 2) the Bible is what it claims to be and/or 3) the claims of Jesus are true and accurate. This is an excellent exposition of all of the newest, major, objections to belief in theism and Christianity and gives them a fair analysis with detailed accurate answers and conclusions. McCallum provides evidence from other major Philosophers, physicists, and scientists that add to the credibility of the claims made in this book. What do you have to lose? The question of God's existence and whether or not He has revealed Himself to humanity is the most important question that can be asked. If God does not exist, it is of no importance, but if God does exist then it is of infinite importance that we find out whatever we can about Him. McCallum gives us that opportunity with Discovering God: Exploring the Possibilities of Faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye opening and thought provoking! February 3, 2012
By Zack
Format:Kindle Edition
Like so many other 20-somethings that live in America, I grew up in a quasi-religious home with vague Christian undertones. I quickly became jaded about religion and "truth" as I grew older in light of all the competing world-views and religious hypocrites. Atheism seemed to be the logical conclusion. A friend gave this book to me a number of years ago and asked me to read it. I was skeptical. But I have to say that this book really changed my mind. It's straight forward, honest, and accurate. McCallum isn't pulling any punches, and he doesn't need to, because the evidence is valid and reasonable. I'm happy to say that this book played a part in meeting the true God for myself. It isn't exhaustive, but it's a great start. It's the go-to book that I give to other people that are interested in knowing why we should believe anything spiritual and on what basis should we do so.
