Editorial Reviews

Review

"For many years I have enjoyed a soul-nurturing friendship with Mindy Caliguire, so I know she lives out the truths she writes about. I am delighted that her passion and practical wisdom will find an increasing audience." (Lynne Hybels, author of Nice Girls Don't Change the World)

"Today the interior life of vast numbers is empty, parched, dry. And the reason? In our daily, desperate scramble of panting feverishness we have never so much as considered the health of our soul. This is why Mindy Caliguire's Soul Care Resources are so valuable and so timely for the contemporary scene. They are practical, well-grounded, wise books that help us cultivate a life of robust soul-health. I recommend Soul Care Resources highly." (Richard J. Foster, author of Celebration of Discipline)

"Please hear me out: Plan a retreat today, plan on taking this book, and plan on experiencing God's gracious care anew. Take your time, avoid the rush, just sit and read and listen and commune with God. You will find that opening yourself to God heals the soul. You will find the friendship of God." (Scot McKnight, author of The Jesus Creed)

"Mindy Caliguire knows and cares about the deep things of the soul. She's been there. And she can be a wise guide here for you." (John Ortberg, author of The Life You've Always Wanted)

We used this book for a spiritual/devotional guide during a small group study. A lot of the material I have seen elsewhere and heard before, so I may be a bit jaded. To me this was okay as a study, nothing that is life changing or enlightening. However, a lot of members of our small group enjoyed this book and found new things. I found it useful to go through and do the questions/answer sections a second time. After all, what you receive is based on the work you actually perform.
As stated in the editorial review, the book is broken into four chapters and those chapters are broken into five subsections. As a fellowship study, we did one of the four chapters each week and then discussed them in our group. Expect each of the four main chapters to take about an hour to read, study, and answer.

Soul Care is changing my life!

It puts language to the way God intended humanity to fully live.
This book can inspire one to take optimal care of the core of his or her being.

I just bought a copy for all of my leaders :)

This books helps you to take time out to assess who you are and what God has in plan or you. It challenges you to step back and assess where you are personally in life (like a self assessment via journaling) and determine your best path forward which includes nursing your soul. Everyone is so overloaded these days, this book calls you to step back and take note of who u are, what your priorities are and what you need to move forward with a more fulfilled life. Excellent !!!! On ur own or as a book study with friends.

I heard Mindy speak this fall and knew that God would give an opportunity to use her book in a small group setting. Not too many weeks passed before a group of women hungering for a deeper soul walk with God gathered. We appreciate Mindy's thought-provoking questions. In our world of "I must fix this about me" and "Serve others until you collapse," she reminds us God is faithful to change us, he doesn't do it immediately, and that is part of the plan. We are encouraging each other to walk with God and to rest in him. I heartily recommend this book for others who are tired and who seek.

The author takes a simple, non-threatening approach to the understanding and care of your soul that catches you off guard in a wonderful way. Of course she is counting on the reader listening to God and allowing the questions and exercises to be tools that reveal the state of your soul and give you hope and help to revive or renew your soul.
