Dr. Dwight "Ike" Reighard wears any number of titles, but his purpose and passion for "helping people exchange ordinary lives for extraordinary living" is quite clear in this masterfully written work. Readers will find the book to flow smoothly, with a good mix of humor, thought-provoking questions and exercises and a well-defined path that will lead the reader to a definite goal: to discover direction for their life.
From the beginning of the book, Dr. Reighard begins to share his personal life and personal struggles, while seeking to become something much greater than his circumstances. Throughout the book, he continues to show readers that they, too, can become more than a product of their circumstances and environment. He describes that through self-discovery, an individual can move from simply "existing," and moving through their lives as a series interruptions to living with purpose and passion, where interruptions can quickly be overcome and moved around and beyond. He shows how, by shedding those things that are outside of our purpose, passion and vision, that an individual can have a life that is much more fulfilling, not only to themselves, but also, to those around them. If a young man or young woman were looking for a mentor or a hero, this is a good place to start. While we are lacking heroes in this day and age, this book will lead you to open the mind and the heart of one.

Don't let the self-help nature of the title fool you -- Reighard isn't a lightweight, and neither is Discovering Your North Star. This book has dozens of useful exercises that help you truly chart your path with clarity and meaning.
