Bought this for an Easter present for my twin boys when they were 3yrs old, now they are 5 and still love it. They have not been old enough to follow the directions to identify bugs yet, perhaps this Spring - but the little wire bound book which comes with it is great! We've spent lots of time reading and looking at the different bugs, they even know which ones are dangerous!

Don't waste your money on this toy. It's worthless. Poor quality, its garbage, not fun and poorly made. I regret buying it.

I had no idea they made something like this until I came accross it on Amazon one day. I was already ordering from the Discover store sellar so I added it on to get free shipping for my order. I put it in my 7 year olds stocking for christmas. She loves bugs and exploring. It is really neat how it works. Asks you a range of questions until it narrows down the creature and gives you an answer. It is pretty accurate and the times it wasn't was more user error then the toy. It is very educational, but fun at the same time. A good mix. We live in the mountains so we havn't got to practice on real creatures yet, but once spring comes I know it will be great. It is a little hard to hear the voice talking in a room with others chattering. There is no volume control, but the speaker is on the bottom of the handle so we just get close to that. Once outside it should be a little easier to hear also.

I have heard that this is an imaginative toy, so we ordered it for our son's birthday. Only to receive it a month late!! So on one hand we were short a gift for his birthday that he could have enjoyed in the warmer weather, but on the other hand we have his first Christmas present for him. I really hope its cool, because I am sure we will be past the return date by Christmas rolls around...
