I purchased this toy for a 3 yr. old. Big mistake! His mom quickly banned it from the house because he kept running it into the wall. His dad loved it, but the little one couldn't control the high speed it reached. If you are thinking of this for an older child, they would probably love it, as my son said it is very fast, and runs over any terrain. Not sure how durable it is yet, because they haven't been able to play with it a lot.
