Picture quality is terrible.

I tried to exchange or return it at Kohls store and they said it "had the wrong bar code on it".

Even in the brightest light the pictures are dark and grainy.

This digital camera is worth every penny considering the idea of its use is self expression and exploration. The only, and I mean only drawback is that it should shut off automatically after a few minutes of non-use....... the batteries are gone asap if it is left on.... which is what kids do ! My 6 year old granddaughter has had a ball with this camera and has taken at least 400 pictures, and of course we downloaded some and ditched others. Just the auto shut off feature would have been worth a few extra bucks to really complete this camera considering it is for younger children.

My son does love this camera. The photos aren't bad for a child's camera, though for the same price you can find an actual digital camera that does much better. What is bad about it is that it has a video mode that is very easy for a child to accidentally switch it into, but not so apparent that he/she is taking videos. It switches between video and photo modes by holding the power button. That means the memory fills up pretty easily, and it drains the 4 AA batteries quickly, especially when the kid gives up trying to get a new photo because it is recording video. Yesterday, my son thought he was taking photos of all the animals at the zoo, but it wasn't until halfway through that I noticed that the memory was full with 1 video.
The thing is sturdy, and can survive drops, throws, etc.
If it didn't have a video mode at all, had much more memory, and didn't cost as much as it does, then it may have been worth it.

This is a simple camera which should be treated more like an interactive toy. The idea a 4 year old is going to take a professional photo to upload online is simply ignorant. It is an easy to use tool that will introduce children to the world of photography. Durable, tough and simple - it is a perfect introductory toy for the small child.

Bought this camera for my 4 year old. He didn't even have it one day and the button to take the pictures got stuck down in the housing and wouldn't pop back up. So the camera was useless. Also, don't be mislead, it says it takes video. Which it does, however what they don't mention is that there is no microphone so therefore there is no sound with the video. What the heck!? What is this? 1920's? I'm pretty sure silent movies went out about 80 years ago. Lame. Another negative to this camera is that it really doesn't hold very many pics. I think it was around 100 pics before we had to start deleting. For a kid who likes to just randomly point and shoot at everything in a room that camera filled up fast. The only positive I can give this camera is that the battery housing was very childproof. There are much better options out there for around the same price. We returned this one and got the vtech kidizoom for just a few bucks more. That one takes better pics, has video with sound, and stores over 1000 pics. Plus it has an SD expansion slot.

This item is worthless. Pictures taken are horrible/blurry and super low resolution. It eats batteries worse than my 1st gen digital camera from 15 years ago did, and still manages to take worse pictures than even a crappy flip phone, it only seems to take passable photos in full daylight outside - I've not seen any non-blurry inside photo, even with an adult trying to use the camera. Box says it holds 120 photos (more like 100-110 in my experience), but that disappears super quickly with a kid taking photos of absolutely everything. It is also way too easy to delete photos, which frustrates my 4 year old, because photos get deleted before they can ever be downloaded to look at on the "Big screen". Big screen viewing is always disappointing, because photos that look fine on the TINY screen on the back of the unit, look horribly blocky and blurry on a computer screen. No expandable storage and photos are 640x480 (0.3 megapixels). I wouldn't suggest that anyone buy this even from a yard sale for a quarter - i simply HATE this camera. My 4 year old does like the thing... you know when it hasn't sucked 4 AA batteries dry in a 2 hour time-frame, or when he's not crying because our 18month old somehow managed to delete 60 photos from the thing in 2 minutes.

We have a 4 and a 5 year old that always take our phones to take pictures.

We thought we couldn't go wrong with these.

We were wrong.

Wow what Junk! We could not get a single viewable photo. I could get better pictures from a Shoe Box with a Pin Hole and a scrap of old Film.
The screen to view your pics is so tiny that you assume the distortion will vanish once you download them to the computer.

Wrong again. They are even worse.

If this were given free, we wouldn't use it. You get no usable pics!

I think the real reason they put it in such an indestructible case is that parents are certain to throw it against a wall out of frustration.

One minute our kids were excited to take pictures. The next, they kept asking where they were. There is really nothing to show.

Horrible horrible horrible.

Discovery sold out on this one. They allowed someone to put their name on a product they did not check out. If they had, they would not have given approval.

If they did check it out, and saw how terrible the photos were, and then still gave license, then they think the consumer is stupid and will buy crap as long as the name Discovery is on it.

They should buy them all back, and destroy the evidence that they ever existed.

We will never accept their Seal of Approval on anything before checking out reviews.

The years they spent building a good reputation was shot for us in a single purchase.

We'd show you a picture of the kids disappointed faces, but it came out blurry and dark.
