Don't waste your money on this one. The activities are hard to figure out, however they are fun if you can figure them out. It would be easier to figure out the activities if you could see them. It is very hard to see what is on the screen. It is easier to see if you are in a very bright room with no shades or curtains and the sun is out. But sit by the window so you can see the screen. It has a button to brighten up the screen, but even at its highest point it is very hard to see. If the activities could be seen better on the screen I would have rated this a five star.

In all, if you want your children to play with something so they dont want to play on yours, this might be something you can give them. For, maybe all of 10 mins! This laptop is recommended for the 6+ age group. But that age group wouldnt go near this if they've even seen a regular laptop or even a good smartphone these days! Still it might be good enough for DD who is just 13 months and has been tearing to have a go at ours for a couple of months now. The keyboard looks like a full size qwerty and has the handfeel of a regular laptops, but like the previous reviewer mentioned, the biggest letdown is the screen. You almost have to have your nose up against the screen to see anything! [...]

Extremely difficult to navigate (for me too). Doesn't work right, ex. there is a stopwatch and it will get stuck at say 5 sec for a long time. Almost every game does something like this.

I got a great deal on this product, but it is not worth even the amazing price. I am returning it. I would not even give it away. The actual screen is very small, the functionality is very limited, the keys do not lay well and feel like they will fall off. The "games and activities" are so bad, not even close to an Atari game. I do not think it is a good item for any age group. The educational activities, like spelling, are geared to 5-6 years old; however if they have ever used a real computer, they will not enjoy this. A 2 year old would enjoy banging on the keyboard and making sounds, but will not be at the level to use the activities. I considered keeping it for my toddler to bang on, but if you press a wrong key it just makes an annoying beep sound or says "wrong" depending on the activity. Even though I think it feels cheap and is not much use in regards to functionality, I still thought of keeping it since my son likes the idea of his own computer (since he sees me with my laptop), but it broke after 2 days! So any consideration I had of keeping it just because I got it so cheap is null. Broken laptop will be returned immediately. Avoid this toy!

I agree with all of the other negative reviews of this toy, but find it amazing that nobody mentioned it plays annoying music constantly while the kids are trying to do things that require concentration, such as math, spelling, etc.

I got this laptop for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter last year. I played around with it for about 10 minutes before I wrapped it and found the music annoying. It took me all of 30 seconds to figure out how to turn that off!
My granddaughter loved having a laptop like mommy's that she could carry around. Her Mom showed her how to work one of the games and she liked doing that for a while but a couple of months after her 3rd birthday it got to the point that she'd get bored with it after 15 minutes or so. Then her Dad showed her how to go to another game. She soon figured it out and will now sit down with it for an hour plus going from activity to activity. I must admit this 3 1/2 year old is a little ahead of the curve...she could identify letters and numbers before she could talk and could say her alphabet and count to 100 by the time she turned 2. At this point she's writing her name, practicing writing the alphabet, and learning some basic reading, so I would think it would be good for many kids who are at the early reading stage and like a challenge. She likes to try new things so the many different activities keep her busy. I will admit that the screen is obscenely small, but her vision is better than mine and it doesn't seem to bother her at all. Also, a larger screen probably would not have withstood all of the abuse she and her baby brother have dealt it. She seems to like feeling like a "big person" with her own laptop. I bought it for $17 on black Friday and as toys go (and it is a toy) it's the best deal I ever got. |
