Book Description

Second Edition:
Charlie Patterson is an exceptionally bright young man, with no close friends. When his great-grandfather becomes trapped within the world of dreams, the Stream, Charlie and his friends set off to save him. There they will encounter fur-covered dragons, deserts of colored glass, distorted history, and strange beings galore. However, there is a growing darkness in the Stream, and it wants both Charlie and his great-grandfather.

Charlie's entire summer has been filled with increasingly disturbing dreams. Most feature a strange, dark-haired girl, who watches, but does not speak. Her name is Robin LeBeaux, a girl from New Mexico with a tragic past, and she is quite real. Despite Charlie's insistent logic, and Robin's enthusiastic illogic, they become fast friends. Together, guided by Robin's deceased sister, they discover a singular talent - the ability to walk into and influence others' dreams.

Critiques have said: "One of the most challenging ordeals a young-adult writer can encounter is the problem of making a child protagonist exciting, believable, and enthralling to readers both young and old. Jones doesn't even need to try."

5.0 out of 5 stars Furry Dragons September 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What do you see when you dream? What if everything in your dream was real...and not in an "Inception" kind of lets steal people's secrets way but in a we need to save people we love kind of way?

The Stream is where dreams are real and when you are a young kid trying to figure out the real world, the dream world just adds to the complexity of growing up.

I fell in love with the characters, but more so the imagery created by Mr Jones. I felt like I was in a movie and could see everything clearly and even hear the sounds and feel the air....

fantastic book...i think this will be a classic!

This was a very imaginative fantasy novel - well, going from fantasy land to reality and back again. I enjoyed it very much and hope to read more of this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Fantasy/YA Read March 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
**I received this book from the author in exchange for a completely honest review.**

I liked this book, quite a bit. I admit that it did take me a little bit to get into it, but after Charlie and Robin met and things started happening with G'pa Joe, that's when it got really interesting.

One of the things that I loved about this book was the attention to detail, the dreams described were really vivid, I had no trouble at all envisioning the creatures or the settings, and that was one of the great things about it.
The dynamic of the relationship between Charlie and Robin was another one of the things that I loved. Their dialogue was usually pretty funny, and it was interesting to see how their relationship really evolved over the course of their adventures. But one of the things that really got me was the emotion that was portrayed through the children, especially Robin, having to deal with her sister's death and dreaming about her accident. You really felt the emotion that she felt at times.

I think my only complaint, and its not even really a complaint, it was just something that I noticed. Robin and Charlie didn't exactly feel 12 and 13 to me. They did feel slightly older, maybe 15 and 16. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

Overall, I like the book. If I hadn't had to stop and start, it would have been a quick read. If you like YA and Fantasy, you would like this. 3.5 out of 5 stars!

More About the Author

Bill Jones, Jr. is a novelist, poet, and photographer, who was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Tidewater, Virginia. He latched onto photography at age 12 and grew up assuming he would be a professional photographer. By college, his priorities had shifted (as well as his awareness of economics) and he opted instead for a career in the business world.

An avid reader and lifelong Science Fiction and Fantasy buff, Bill was equally drawn to poetry and began writing and having poems published in small literary journals shortly after college. After taking time off to focus on raising his daughter, Bill resumed writing in 2007. Since then, he has published 3 contemporary fantasy novels (Discovery, Awakening, and Emprise) as well as a short story collection, The Juice and Other Stories. Currently, Bill is editing his first Science Fiction adventure, Hard as Roxx.
