Excellent textbook on chaos!,

This review is from: Discrete Dynamical Systems: Theory and Applications (Hardcover)
Although this text lacks the brightly-colored fractals of many other works, the coverage it gives to the mathematics end of things more than makes up for it. It deals very well with the concepts of statistics and dynamic equations that are necessary for the understanding of chaos, presuming very little in the way of mathematical knowledge on the part of the reader. All definitions are clearly delineated, and the answers to the exercises are provided in the back.

This review is from: Discrete Dynamical Systems: Theory and Applications (Hardcover)
This is one of those excellent textbooks that did not reach the level of popularity that
it deserves. The book is very well written. The layout of text/equations is handsome. The examples are very interesting (gamblers ruin, finance, population dynamics, Markov chains...) The book is not glitzy like a JC Penny Christmas catalog but looks and feels like a math book. Overall a very wise investment for the autodidact or student ! |
