3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy it wile you can, September 20, 2005

I was a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and seen this band numerous times before their "big record contract". The lead singer had a whole different band backing him up and may I say better musicianship. I don't know what reason forced the whole band to part but Ryan Taylor (vox) threw together a second round if you will. I'm not saying don't buy THIS album because it was recorded under the old band. So knock yourself out and enjoy what the once proud Slavemachine used to be. Just be cautious of buying follow up albums if they get that far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad piece of work, October 25, 2004
This review is from: Disfiguered Consciousness (Audio CD)
This North Carolina agro-metal outfit has already garnished the attention of fans in their local club circuit and they recently got the attention of Adam Grayer, who is responsible for the Jager-Music program. After gaining exspore by sharing the stage with the likes of ANTHRAX, LACUNA COIL and MOTORGRADER, SLAVEMACHINE are set to unleash their fury on the world with their major label debut, "Disfigured Consciousness." This release is like a combination of THE DISTURBED, BIG CATHOLIC GUILT and SLAVES ON DOPE. The rock backdrop provides the chunky beats and the guitars follow suit with accurate synchronizations. The vocals have a seedy, sultry vibe in between anthemic screams and choruses. Their hefty sound works well with the downtrodden baselines but doesn't sound mushy or too cramped. It is, in essence, hard rock with a darkened edge that throbs like a heartbeat, making any person who listens to it succumb to the potential catchiness. Sort of like DISTURBED but without those unwanted, annoying, monkey-like screams. This band certainly has something going for them and the sweet smell of success is just around the corner for them.

3.0 out of 5 stars As the bass player on this album..., July 7, 2006
This review is from: Disfiguered Consciousness (Audio CD)
First off, as it has been several years since I left the band, I felt this would be the best forum to explain what exactly happened to the "rest of the band" and clarify a few things. Eric (guitars), Lee (Drums), and I played ALL the music on this album. Unlike the credits in the CD liner (which list Ryan and "Slavemachine Part II" as the songwriters and artists), we played, sang, and recorded everything you hear on this disk, but elected not to stay with the band due to numerous internal diagreements...namely between us and Ryan. After much debate, we all went our seperate ways, and Ryan decided to carry on with the "Slavemachine" moniker.

One thing to note: This album, our contract, our Jagermeister and Morely sponsorships...all of it, was a result of 4 guys busting their humps for 3 years and building a decent following. Too bad one of us (I'm sure you can guess who) decided that it would be better to carry on the Slavemachine name and drive it into the ground. Welcome to the cut-out bin! =)

In closing, I'm not bitter, just glad that people can check out the CD, appreciate it (or slag it) for what it's worth, and know exactly how things went down. Salvemachine was Ryan, Eric, Lee, and myself. After that, I'm not sure what the fans were treated to, but from what I've read (and heard second-hand), it was one big disappointment after another...
