Super Why Toddler Costume

My son loves Super Why! and asked for the costume for Halloween. We were unable to find the costume in the 8 different stores that I looked at, so we purchased it online.

1. The mask is not the same as the pictures. It is a piece of thin foam with eyes cut out and a piece of elastic on the back that is fastened by velcro on both sides. They eyes were also too far apart for my son and the mask does not stay on his face. The picture shows a mask that ties in the back and has a textured mask with large eye holes.

2. The costume is not hemmed well. It is coming unraveled at the neck and around the cape and the fabric is running. Strings are hanging off at the edges of the costume. The costume arrived this way.

3. The belt is another piece of cut out foam. The picture shows the belt buckle as overlaying the belt. The picture shows a yellow belt. The belt on the costume is gold.

It makes me very sad that it is made so poorly. I don't think this is a costume that my son will be able to wear past Halloween. I'm happy that he will get a chance to be Super Why!, but I would not buy this product unless I was absolutely desperate. I would not purchase this costume again.

The actual costume does not look like the picture. The belt is different and the mask is cheap. The mask has a white elastic band that Velcros to each side of the mask and does not stay on. Not exactly impressed with quality of the costume either - crooked seems and uneven legs. The saddest part, is that ours did not arrive with a cape. All this said - my three year old still loves it.

I almost skipped this item on my 3 1/2 year-old son's Christmas list after reading the bad reviews here, but it was one of the top 2 things he asked for (this and a bicycle were all he talked about). I went ahead and ordered thinking that even if the costume didn't last, it would be worth the price just for him to open it on Christmas morning.

Well he did, and his sisters got the Princess Presto and Wonder Red costumes as well, and everyone was thrilled... including me!

I was pleasantly surprised by what I found in the package. It's not high-quality clothing by any means, but it is not nearly as flimsy as I feared. It's very similar to most of the other dress-up clothes my kids have (cheap synthetic knit fabric), and it is holding up just fine so far -- only a few days, but it's gotten a LOT of wear already. Might not hold up as well as a Halloween costume outdoors, but for indoor dress-up play it's great.

My child and his friend from across the street were both Super Why for Halloween. They had a blast. The costume held up for the night and that's all that really mattered. My son played with it after Halloween and it quickly fell apart, but that's expect for a Halloween costume. The smile and giggles on Halloween were worth the price of the costume.

I ordered this costume for my toddler who is absolutely in love with SuperWhy. It arrived today, and my husband and I were so excited to give it to our son... However, our enthusiasm was short lived when we saw the cape. ((I already anticipated the mask and belt to be a bit on the flimsy side... but that's ok since we have a great mask from another playset)) The cape was absolutely HORRIBLE! It is unevenly cut, with it running shorter on the left and darn near dragging on the floor on the right side. The actual "SuperWhy" logo is extremely off-centered to the left and it is rotated 90degrees to the counter clockwise!!! I was absolutely disgusted with the carlessness in manufacturing of this costume altogether - especially when it is not inexpensive as far as costumes go. I expected better! Thankfully our 2 year old doesn't take such notice to detail, so his spirits are still high as I sit here fuming, trying to be pateint until MONDAY to get a hold of someone.

Buyer beware of this costume and this manufacturer!!

My 4 year old son LOVES this costume, but after just 2 wears around the house, it already has 3 runs in the fabric. this is definitely not durable. It would probably be great for just 1 wear at Halloween, but if your child is really into SuperWhy and would like to wear it just for fun, expect it to fall apart.

I have a child with special needs and when he said he wanted to be Super Why then I got so excited. It was his first Halloween request ever and so I wanted to make it happen. I couldn't find the costume locally so I purchased through Amazon. I think if I would have seen it in person then I'd have tried to talk my little guy out of it. First off, my son loved the costume. So that's the most important thing. But, the costume is not made well. Before Halloween there were a few events that my family attended. By the time it was the 31st then the costume wasn't fit to be worn (although he wore it anyway because it's all that we had). For the price, I'd expect it to be able to hold up to 3 times of light wear. It literally was stretched and ripped up from just casual wear. Cute costume, but very low quality.

My daughter loves Super Why, so we purchased it expecting what some of the other reviews stated. It was a cute costume, but very cheaply made. The seams were uneven and coming apart before we even put it on. It does snag/run easily-my daughter had it on for about 10 minutes inside the house and there were runs in the material from where the seams met. The mask was hard to fit and keep on due to the velcro and elastic attachment. It also had a strange odor coming out of the box that stayed with the garment. We haven't washed it yet, so I can't comment on that. The colors were very bright and my daughter felt like Super Why and of course didn't notice the things that we would. She really liked it. The costume was true to size-it was also nice that the material was stretchy-you could fit a layer or two underneath.

this is a great costume if you plan to wear it once or twice and then just throw it away or use it just as dress up. everyone who knew who super why is loved the costume...many parents and younger children said "look, it's super why!".

that being said, the first time i put it on it got a run in it...the material is like thick pantyhose and can run and snag just by touching rough skin or the velcro that is on the costume. my son has wore it two times for a few hours each time and many of the seems are also starting to unravel.

i bought this for my two year old who is of normal size and the stretchy material is great for putting extra layers of clothes underneath for cooler halloween nights.

even with the terrible construction of this costume, if your child LOVES super why, and really wants to be him for halloween, i would buy this costume.

My 3 year old son loves Super Why and picked this out as his costume. From the description/photos, it seemed like a good price. However, it is very cheaply made and is falling apart after a few wears. Fine for around the house, but I can't repair it for his school Halloween party. The mask is cheap and keeps falling off. The fabric has frayed and ripped, and the belt is falling off. Totally overpriced for the quality. I had to order another one for Halloween. Next year I'll know better! At least my son loves it anyway.
