Editorial Reviews

2011 release from the Seattle-based Punk/Alt-Rock crew. Aiden pick up where the critically-praised and fan favorite album, Knives, left off and expand on their distinct breed of gritty and defiant Rock 'n Roll. Disguises brings the dark, controversial, haunting, and sinister vibes that only Aiden can showcase. The racing new anthems on Disguises are loaded with commanding gang chants and huge sing-a-long choruses guaranteed to pack rooms across the world. As Aiden continue to recruit members to their ever-building army, Disguises will prove to be the next chapter in their unrefined and inspiring career.

To start off with this review, i have never been to impressed with Aiden, until their 2009 release of knives. That album blew my mind. I Loved every song from it, and it still remains as one of the greatest albums i ever got to own!

Anyways:
This album is not bad, but it's also not good. The opening track is pretty catchy, even though it's only a minute long.
Then it jumps into the next song "Horror queen", which is a great track. the song is very catchy, and you'll be singing it by the second time hearing it.
The next few songs aren't that great, and they remind me of a heavier conviction (Just my opinion), which they aren't bad, just nothing really great at all.

After a few songs "Walk among the dead" will start, that's one of the greatest songs that aiden has made (In my opinion). It's a really good song. it starts off pretty wicked also, and it's just a great song in general.
It's one of those 'never gets old' type of songs. Also the lyrics really reach out to me (and others i'm sure). It's about religion, which is an arguable topic. point is it's a great song.

I Also forgot to mention the song "Hysteria". That's another one of those "Conviction" Songs, but they make this one sound amazing! It's just so catchy, and once again the lyrics are great. It's another one of those songs you'll be singing the second time around. I can't get enough of this song.

Point is,
This album has a good 4 songs that are just 'blow your mind' great,
But all the others in this album are those songs you'll be like "What is this?" I Mean seriously, it sounds like a heavier "Conviction".
If you were expecting an album like knives, then this album won't live up to those expectations.

If you're questioning whether or not to buy it, go on youtube, and listen to some of the songs, then decide like that.
Overall, the album isn't terrible, it's just not to great. It may be great to some people, and others might hate it. it all depends on your style, and what you were looking forward too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. November 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is a great album. I saw these guys last year and had the pleasure of seeing them play a handful of these tracks because the record was brand new back then. I don't know if Aiden would be categorized as punk but definitely heavy rock to say the least. Two thumbs up for this!

3.0 out of 5 stars Its just "Meh"... June 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is a sequel to Knives. Plain and simple.

The filthy guitar riffs, drums that sound like they have broken glass in them, and echo-y deep vocals are plentiful in this 11 track Lp.

For those of you who long the hardcore, screaming punk sound of Nightmare Anatomy, or the more soft love/hate song ridden Conviction are best left to continue searching. In critisism, this might be their worst album to date, which hurts to say, since I've been a fan of Aiden since Our Gang's Dark Oath.

Remember the song "Crusifiction" off of Knives? Well, imagine that song repeated 9 times, with an intro and cover to open and close, respectively, this half an hour ride.

Almost every song has something to do with standing against religion, how a god is never there to help, and how rebellion to fall in line with religious figures, while I admit might strike chords with other fans, but its awkward for others.

Not being religious, I must say its uncomfortable listening to a half an hour rant on religion, especially because it gets old after a few songs.

But none the less, the cover of Radio (made famous by Alkaline Trio) is spot on. Rather than alternative rock, its a creepy piano cover that only does half the song, however its arguably the best.

Other songs to look up: Horror Queen, Portrait of an Artist, and Re-evolver.

If you didn't like Knives, I'd just stay away.
