5.0 out of 5 stars Full of interesting, disgusting facts but you won't throw up, November 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Disgusting Digestion (Horrible Science) (Paperback)
This book is full of disgusting, yet interesting facts about digestion. It has cool cartoons, crazy quizzes, and lots of intriguing scientific words. It will make you giggle and soon you will be using some of those cool scientific words. I'd recommend this book for people who are capable of dealing with disgusting facts without throwing up. My mom and dad like this book also.

I thought the book was really good, it told me all aboutdigestion and what happens to food once it's inside you and what kindof germs can make a hole in your guts, and that your liver makes salt and it just tells you everything about your body and it's really good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parents Beware..., July 21, 2006
By
This review is from: Disgusting Digestion (Horrible Science) (Paperback)
I'm an editor. I write for kids. I occasionally review and recommend kids' books. And I have a son who is an extremely precocious reader. So trust me when I say that Nick Arnold's books are AWESOME. They score a knockout "10" across the board because

-they're FUN! Oh my goodness, I couldn't think of a more brilliant way to hook kids on science than to approach it the way Arnold does, with cartoons, funny stories, and facts that make kids say "Eww-WWW! with a smile on their faces.

-the science is excellent. My son has learned so much from reading (and re-reading and re-re-reading) this book.

-Arnold doesn't talk down to kids. Sure, he's adding cartoons and playing up the sensational bits, but he's not dumbing down either the subject or his vocabulary. I could kiss him for it.

-Finally, the books are fun for adults to read, too. (Mostly because he's not dumbing down the subject or his vocabulary...see above.) I love reading chapters of this book with my son.

So why, then, should parents beware? Because your kids will get hooked on this book. They'll start begging for other books in the series. And they will start reciting disgusting facts from it EVERYWHERE. My son, for example, has entertained us with tidbits about vomit while we were driving down the road; expounded about gas during restaurant dinners, and treated visitors to factoids about saliva, among other things.

Yeesh. So beware, parents! But enjoy the sensation of seeing your kids get hooked on science.

5.0 out of 5 stars MADMIKE'S REVEIW, April 8, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Disgusting Digestion (Horrible Science) (Paperback)
Disgusting digestion by Nick Arnold. Do you like books with a nasty touch of digestion? Well let me tell you if you do not like nasty stuff about Disgusting Digestion keep a bucket by you. This book is disgusting. But Nick Arnold is a great writer. He'll keep you on the edge of your seat. The vocabulary in this book is amazing did you know that regurgitate mean puke or throw up. The theme is how we digest the food we eat. The couple of weak points are the quiz's nobody really wants to take a quiz they want to read a book. Some strong points are the pictures and the diagrams they'll help you under stand the book on the other hand they're funny too.
This non-fiction book is great, the author label and everything I my self encourage you to the book it makes science fun. The author will make you laugh. I recommend ages 10-11 to read this book. Remember if you do not like books with a nasty touch about Disgusting Digestion keep a bucket by you. Will you be the one blowing chunks.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great book, February 1, 2006
This review is from: Disgusting Digestion (Horrible Science) (Paperback)
Disgusting digestion by Nick Arnold. Do you like books about nasty digestion? Well let me tell you if you do not like gross stuff such as how your body brakes everything down This book is not for you. Nick Arnold is a great writer he tells you interesting facts bout the body that are funny He'll make you fall off the edge of your seat in laughter. I can't forget the great illustrations of Tony de Saulles as the book would not be the same with out them .The only thing is you don't really want to have a quiz half way into the book so that didn't go down to well. I think this book is suitable for people aged 10-15 and it's a great value for money book as it is only £3.99. on the whole this is a great book.
