We wanted a way to watch non-broadcast games while tailgating. We first tried a traditional dish. After hours of trying to make that work, we decided that our time would be better spent with another product. We found this, and love it.
When we get to our parking spot, we simply set it up and let it find the satellites. (It finds 3.) In the time it takes up to put up our tent and generally set up, the TV is up and running. We have set it up with an unimpeded view of the southern sky and with a partially blocked view. With a clear view there are no issues. When we tried with a partially blocked view, the screen showed that we weren't getting all of the satellites, but we still had the channels that we wanted, so we didn't have to adjust.
The tailgater is lightweight. We have been very careful with it, so I don't know if it can take any abuse. The wide base makes it unlikely to blow over in moderate winds.
As another reviewer noted, you have to have the specific Dish Network receiver for the tailgater to work, but once you have it, the whole system is great. We honestly don't know how we got along without one. If there is any drawback, it is that everyone who is tailgating near by will want to know about the tailgater and how it works.
