More About the Author

Carolyn Hughey writes humorous contemporary romance focused on a cooking theme for Montlake Romance, an imprint of Amazon.

Growing up in a typical Italian family who entertained the masses, Carolyn became a NY trained chef and carried out the tradition.

In her stories, you'll meet Cassie Pirelli and her interfering Italian family who'll make you laugh, they'll make you cry, they'll make you fall in love, and of course, they'll make you hungry. It's a typical Italian family who live by one word, "fiercely". That goes for love, loyalty, grudges, demanding, and you're expected to show up for Family Fest at mama's house, whether it's a Sunday or a holiday, and trust me, no excuses, you're expected to be there!

Her books, Cupid's Web, Shut Up and Kiss Me, a best seller for Avalon Books, a NY based publisher commissioned her to write a cooking series titled Romancing the Chef's Toque. Dishing Up Romance, One Menu at a Time, and Catering to Love, chockfull of recipes, and the good news is they are all available in paperback and digital formats.

When Carolyn isn't writing, she's cooking up some gastronomic treat for family or friends, and trust me, she expects you to come hungry!

Carolyn, a Jersey Girl at heart, now resides in Arizona with her handsome husband, Bob. Together, they have four children.

If you like to cook, if you like to eat, and if you'd like to find out some of the hilarious things that happen in restaurant kitchens, then these books are for you.

She loves to hear from her fans. Drop her a line and you can be sure she'll be the one responding to you.

I love Cassie Pirelli and her mother, who's an absolute hoot! I've been waiting for another humorous tale from Carolyn and thrilled she wrote a sequel to Cupid's Web. I really wanted to know what happened to Cassie. As I delved into the story, it brought back so many memories from my teenage years while hanging out with my Italian girlfriends, and I can tell you, the antics this mama pulls are definitely right on.

I especially loved the recipes Carolyn shared and the way she weaved the story into the directions. I've been looking for an authentic meatball and sauce recipe for years. I can tell you after trying this recipe, it was easy and it tasted pretty darn authentic even for this mostly Polish/German/Swedish girl.

If you like recipes and you're looking for a humorous read, this book is for you!

Wow! What a great read! And the recipes are to easy and simply delicious! I've tried several of them. I loved the way the author actually managed to include the humor of the story right into the directions of her recipes. This is laugh out loud funny.

A wonderfully delightful and yummy story...I can't wait for the next two in this series.
I love her humorous writing style and her dialogue is so natural you actually feel like you're in the room talking with that character. The heroine is refreshing and this fast-paced, fun read is an unforgettable story.

Although Cassie is nearly thirty, readers would almost imagine she is just hitting puberty. High drama seems to be her answer for everything, making readers wonder how in the world she can possibly run her own business, without destroying everything in the process. Josh, however, lays it all on the line, albeit a little prematurely, although readers have to admire him for knowing what he wants and being adult enough not to play games. In my opinion, a little maturity will go a long way to making Cassie a more entertaining and enjoyable character.

Dishing Up Romance:

Cassie Pirelli? Thank you, Carolyn. I've been wondering what happened to Cassie ever since I read Cupid's Web. It's funny how these characters become so real to us. I've established a girlfriend relationship with her and Megan, so I'm happy to revisit her shenanigans again. :-) It's nice to know they're safe, and now she's cooking up a storm.

When Cassie finally announces she's gone to culinary school--a shock to all of us, including Mom and Dad, Dad decides to retire and give her the deli. He's owns the building. Cassie and her mom, Lucy--how can we ever forget Mama Lucy? She's the one who wants to see her daughter married with lots of babies, but first, getting Cassie settled in her career is at the top of the list. Mama, and now Dad too--that quiet man, have joined forces. Enough is enough already. Mama thinks she should turn the deli into a cooking studio and kitchen gadget store because everyone wants to learn to cook. Don't they? Cassie agrees, but that doesn't mean she's confident about it. But when Josh Benson, Mr. Rock-hard Chest carpenter guy comes on the scene, he says all the right things and even likes cooking himself, and somehow, he instills confidence in her. This guy didn't just fall off the turnip truck--he brought the whole bunch with him.

This story was another fun read. And the recipes, OMG, they're incredible. Carolyn has included a recipe for meatballs and sauce that are to die for. So far, my favorite is the Lemon Herbed Salmon. The recipes are an added bonus because they're so good. This is a funny story. Titles for her recipes like, Mama's Singin' I Ain't Never Gonna be a Nana Blues, and Josh is Doin' the Salsanova, sets the stage. And, the author has even written the recipes using the point-of-view of the main character in that scene. What a unique idea! I loved this story. You will too.

In an age where young adults think romance is all about sex, I love that the author did not have the characters jumping in and out of bed! It's a book I will happily let my 11 year old daughter read. No bad words (though some are substitutions, but I am guilty of that, so it's very appropriate in the context of the conversations). I read this in about 3 sittings of an hour or so each. Very fun and light reading. I really want to try the recipes! I personally know the author and she has cooked for me. She is truly a talented lady with lots of great ideas for books, the kitchen, design and family. It's refreshing to read something that is just a great story about the conflicts and contrasts of finding and being in love mixed with the funny things that a functional family will say because of their great love for one another too. She definitely knows Italian families, and coming from a German/Italian one, it was so fun to imagine what my east coast relatives would have been like, since my own family was a lot more subdued but had some stories much like this one in their past. Definitley check it out! I didn't realize it was the 2nd in a series. I am going to read 'Cupid's Web' and follow the series!

I enjoyed the book because it seemed everyone wanted to get involved in setting the girl up for marriage and to the same man. It has recipes in it also ifyou are into them. A good read if you like romance with a twist - You'll have to read for the ending though
