Pooh could be 4 u!,
By Suzanne Brice (Baltimore, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Winnie the Pooh Preschool (CD-ROM)
My 2 and a half year old has quickly learned how to navigate this program. The beginning has a mail box that you have to type the players name into and I need to help her with that. There are 3 levels on each game and a variety of activities. Counting, coloring a page to match a smaller picture and even color mixing to get desired color. The goal is to complete all the areas to get ready for a birthday party for Eeyore. My daughter enjoys this game and although it is a bit slow sometimes ( pooh is a slow talker) She plays with it often. It requires more thinking than many of the other games for this age group that I have bought and challenges her. I would recommend it highly.

A Really Great Game,
By
This review is from: Winnie the Pooh Preschool (CD-ROM)
My two year old really enjoys this game. The animation is fantastic and there are a whole lot of different educational games to play. She really enjoys doing all the different activities with her favorite Pooh Characters. I love the fact that it has different levels of difficulty, so when she is bored with one level [or outgrows it], she can move on to another level and it is a whole new exciting game. I expect to get a LOT of play out of this software. [This Preschool game is a vast improvement over Winnie the Pooh Toddler - although I still hate the long credits you have to sit through at the end to take the CD out].

Pooh and the gang make learning a joy!,

This is a wonderful game that captivates young audiences. I've used it with kids from 2-5 years of age and they all have fun with their favorite characters (while they sneak in a little education on them.) There is a game to play with each of your 100 Acre pals which help enhance different skills-listening, matching, counting, alphabet and pre-reading, etc. With three levels of play for each activity and a goal to reach at the end (Eeyore's birthday party), the kids love this one for a long, long time. I think you'll definitely get your money's worth out of this one.

Doesn't allow for creativity,

I was generally disappointed with this software, but especially with the Piglet portion, in which the child gets to color in the pictures -- but only if they choose the exact colors that Piglet has indicated. OK, so maybe the sky should be blue, but why can't Pooh's scarf be green instead of red? If your child doesn't select the colors that Piglet has chosen, she cannot advance to the next picture.

not a good buy,

this program is the one of thr worst I have bought! i bought it for my son who is almost 3 because in the box it is written for 2-4 year olds . If your kid hasn't mastered his mouse skills yet it is impossible for him to do it by himself. Another dissapontment was the final birthday party. We worked so hard with him to get there. and guess what ... pooh has mixed things up and it wasn't eeore's birthday afterall ( so no candles no cake )but any day spent with friends is a party!!!! my son was crieing and begging me to put a cake and candles there! It was total dissapointment. I also didn't like that piglets pictures had to be colored how piglet wanted them to be. (this was the only thing he could do without my help but the colors were different so I had to change them to the "proper" ones to be able to paint the next picture) kanga's alphabet soup was fun - we liked it a lot. tigers music machine was also lots of fun Owls house little boring-my son showed no interest. In my opinion this software shouldn't be suggested to the kids under 4 because, firstly it is almost impossible for them to do it by themselves, neither they understand the joke how pooh mixes up the bithday party. Would never have bought it if I had known this.

better software programs out there...,
This review is from: Winnie the Pooh Preschool (CD-ROM)
This game is frustrating for my just turned 3 year old. It isnt as mouse sensitive as the other software programs we bought like Reader Rabbit Toddler or Elmo Preschool which are much more easier to navigate through for a young 3 year old. I wouldnt recommend this until your little one understands how to click the left side of the mouse twice and when to click the right side. Stick to some of the other programs. No doubt though that this is fun for her when I help though.

Not for beginners!!,

We borrowed this CD from the library and my almost 4 year old just loves it. It is very hard to keep her busy, but she will sit and play with this for long periods of time. We especially like Kanga's alphabet soup game, Rabbit's canning game and coloring with Piglet. I like that there are 3 levels of difficulty, so the software will grow with her. I think part of why she likes it is because she is "helping" her Hundred Acre Wood friends. This software is a little bit advanced for the suggested age range. I think a child needs to have a basic grasp on numbers, letters, colors, etc. in order to enjoy this CD. It also is alot more fun for them if they can do the mouse themselves. If you are looking for software to start teaching letters, numbers, pointing & clicking, etc. I would suggest the Jump Start series or Dr. Seuss'ABC's living book. I understand that the point of the game is supposed to be Eeyore's birthday party - we have never gotten to that point and is doesn't make a difference. My daughter and I just like playing the individual games.

Pretty Good Game,

My 2 1/2 year old likes this pretty well. I agree with previous reviewers about the party at the end. It was so bad that I assumed it would improve as you completed the exercises in level 2 and 3, etc. It didn't. In fact, once you get the party, you never get anything else for completing the higher levels. Not even the same party. My 2 1/2 year old mastered the mouse while playing this, and will sometimes play unattended for quite some time on her own. This game has some decent letter recognition, pattern matching, and motor skills activities.

First rate learning experience,
By
This review is from: Winnie the Pooh Preschool (CD-ROM)
This CD-ROM is an excellent introduction to basic math concepts for young children. Once shown the basics, my son (at age 3) was easily able to navigate the program with no difficulties, which is an added benefit - computer literacy skills. This program teaches youngsters how to count, learn deduction and reasoning, sort and classify, identify numbers, listen, and mix colors. You can choose the difficulty level depending on the child's proficiency, which also keeps the experience fresh. Other excellent features include the ability to track the child's progresss and a selection of things you can print to create worksheets, including flash cards and a simple workbook. My son is 6 now, but he still goes back to this program now and again. I credit it with giving him a head start in math and helping build his confidence and love for learning. I highly recommend it for any young child.

I basically liked this program. But my child lost interest in it really quick. My three year old liked Mickey's preschool much better. Read my review for that. It is titled the same but rated a five star.
