3.0 out of 5 stars The good, the bad and the ugly. September 5, 2012

While this three-pack combo has a great price, the games that come with it are a mixed bag.

Split-Second is an addictive, flashy and fun arcade-style racer. It looks great, plays well with a controller, and is a fun thrill ride. While an arcade racer at heart, it relies on explosive gimmicks, wherein the player can blow up parts of the track to smash opponents. Some of these explosions are really quite cool, but they do become repetitive in multiple play-throughs.

Pure is also a racer, and quite a good one at that, but takes place off-road and uses insane stunts. While a fun and polished game, I simply was not able to get into the Xtreme sports aspect of it. That said, it is solid, and fans of that genre should get a kick out the title.

Tron, on the other hand, is an abomination. The games has an incomprehensible plot, which has a player leaping, wall-running and scurrying along cliff edges. Other games, like the Uncharted series or Assassin's Creed series use the mechanics to great effect: Tron does not. It is frustratingly hard to judge distances and angles for jumps and swings. Paths are very unclear, especially considering the haphazard level design. The action is repetitive. Even the graphics and aesthetics are terrible, that is unless, of course, you like the colors blue and gray while loathing anything else in the color spectrum. And, it is at times, aggravatingly untested and unrefined. This title sinks and otherwise good bundle to the sea floor.
