Disney Afternoon Soundtrack: Musical Gem, November 13, 2007
This review is from: The Disney Afternoon: Original Music From the Four Hit Disney TV Shows (Audio CD)
There is no beating this classic album. This is Patty and Michael Silversher at their best. It's great for both kids and adults: Disney collecters will kill for this album. The songs are sweet, catchy, and timeless. The studio versions of the songs blow the original recordings out of the water. This is Disney back when it was having its big bang revival, and is miles away from the train wreck that the studio is today. The writing and musical talent on these tracks are superb. Bonus creds go to Mark Mueller, who wrote two themes(Ducktales and Chip&Dale Rescue Rangers), and to Dean Pitchford and Tom Snow, who wrote the DA theme.

A great soundtrack, but..., January 20, 2011
This review is from: The Disney Afternoon: Original Music From the Four Hit Disney TV Shows (Audio CD)
It is no secret that people responsible for the Disney Afternoon did their best to hire the best songwriters to write the theme songs for their shows. It is also no secret that those songwriters succeeded. After all, who DOES NOT know the Duck Tales song? On YouTube alone, it earned 2,000,000+ views!
This CD has the full versions of themes from Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Chip&Dale Rescue Rangers and Talespin. I may be bias, but the 3 minutes-long Rescue Rangers theme with its sax solo is the winner here.
In addition to those 4 tracks, also included are songs that appear in those shows (save for Rescue Rangers) at certain moments. These are nice, and "Home is Where Your Heart Is" is probably the nicest of them all.
All in all, the CD is great, BUT...... where is the orchestral music? Each show Disney put on TV had wonderful score written for each episode. Some of the music was reused, like what could be called "danger theme", or "adventure theme" or "victory theme", etc. Why not include at least SOME of that stuff in a "Disney Afternoon Soundtrack"??? But no, - all you get is songs.
This CD has long been out-of-print, and the few copies left for sale will not be cheap. However, if you are not a die-hard Disney collector, you can also buy a newer CD called "Toon Tunes: Action Packed Anthems". It also has the full versions of Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers and Talespin, plus the TV-size Darkwing Duck (a full-lenght version for this show does not exist). However, it is missing the Gummi Bears song, as well as all the other tracks from this "Disney Afternoon Soundtrack".

Great Songs From Disney Shows, December 15, 2010
This review is from: The Disney Afternoon: Original Music From the Four Hit Disney TV Shows (Audio CD)
These are songs from the cartoons I loved when I was a kid. The theme to "Duck Tales" is my favorite because it's so catchy and fun. I just wish I could find the CD for a cheaper price, but it is out of print now.
