5.0 out of 5 stars Undisputed master of the soft, tender song.
Michael Crawford is the master of the soft, tender song and he demonstrates this "The Disney Album." 3.0 out of 5 stars Syrup over mickey's pancakes
"Colors Of The Wind" is the true winner here, along with the Lion King's Medley, and Michael Crawford does manage to do a heartwarming rendition of "Baby Mine." The rest of the album is more suitable for dinner over quiet candle light, or a quiet evening by the fire. Very melancholy, and very soft tones for some fine Disney songs, that bend to the tearful, thought...

Michael Crawford is the master of the soft, tender song and he demonstrates this "The Disney Album." Any song he sings takes on a new, larger-than-life dimension and he is very canny about selecting songs which are suitable for him. Especially lovely on this album are "Colors of the Wind", "When She Loved Me" and "Baby Mine", the last will bring a lump to your throat. This CD is beautifully produced and a lot of love and care went into it. Incidentally, those who have not heard Michael Crawford sing "When You Wish Upon a Star" should purchase his album, "Songs From Stage and Screen". Hearing him sing this piece is a revelation. "The Disney Album" will be the perfect introduction to Michael Crawford for my six-month old grandson. I know he will become a big fan!! We love you Michael, keep turning out beautiful recordings-I think all the ones you have done so far are magnificent. My one hope is that more songs will be written just for Michael so that the full range and beauty of his voice can be demonstrated.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest single CD I own!, October 15, 2001
This review is from: The Disney Album (Audio CD)
Michael Crawford has the amazing gifts of continuously reinventing himself and adding new dimentions to every song he sings and role he plays. The Disney Album is no exception! Firstly, he wraps his voice around these pop-rock tunes, which, to say the least, are a bit different from the majority of songs found on most of his albums. Then, not only does he adapt to this new style, but he envelopes these famous songs which we have known for years and re-invents them, making them his own and adding powerful depth and expression to each note. It is truly a very moving experience to hear!

Michael Crawford's magnificent voice lends new meaning to these modern Disney classics, and each song is enhanced by the Crawford touch. This is a gentle album which can be appreciated by both adults and children. It is a positive album filled with hope and love.

4.0 out of 5 stars His voice just gets better and better, September 24, 2001

I'd give Michael's singing 10 stars if I could (or how about 20?). It's so good to have a new album from him. The only reason I'm not giving this one five stars is the songs. Some of them follow the pattern of too many modern pop songs -- a catchy melody with a lot of cliched lyrics ("Why can't they understand the way we feel," etc. And I think the words "dry your eyes," or some variation thereof, are sung in about half the songs).

I would give a great deal to hear Michael do another collection of the great Broadway songs. I keep hearing about him singing "I Won't Send Roses" in concerts, and heard him sing -- magnificently -- an all-too-short version of "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" in the "My Favorite Broadway" concert on PBS. Please, Michael, get some of those (full versions) recorded! Another sacred album would be wonderful too.

All that being said, however, there are some really good songs on here, the best one being "If I Never Knew You." "Baby Mine" is lovely, and "Reflection" has echoes of "Phantom" ("If I wear a mask, I can fool the world") that longtime fans will appreciate! I should add that Michael sings "The Lion King" songs better than Elton John and the "Tarzan" song better than Phil Collins. He DOES. Just listen if you don't believe me!

What really matters is that brilliant voice is going stronger than ever; like the Phantom in the novel, it can "make gems from mud" -- and these songs, cliches aside, really aren't bad enough to be called "mud"! So do get this one as soon as you can. It's well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Disney and Crawford = Musical Magic!, September 22, 2001

I have long been a fan of both Disney AND Michael Crawford seperately, so when I heard that his next album would be all Disney music I was very excited. After listening, my excitement was more than justified. The arrangements are lovely and Mr. Crawford's voice only seems to improve with every new album he releases. The songs are mostly from the contemperary movies, such as "When She Loved Me" and "I Will Go Sailing No More", both from Toy Story movies. There is a BEAUTIFUL (and favorite) track from one of the movies from the Golden Age of Disney--"Baby Mine" from Dumbo left tears in my eyes.

This album is for children of ALL ages!

I, too, have always been a fan of both Disney and Michael Crawford. When I heard that Michael Crawford was doing a CD of Disney classics, I had to get it--especially since many of my favorite songs are on it: Reflection, I Know the Truth, You'll be in My Heart, and Your Heart Will Lead You Home. Just as good as--or even better than--the originals. Michael Crawford never fails to delight!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Phantom of the Opera sings the Music of the Mouse, April 20, 2003
This review is from: The Disney Album (Audio CD)
It is certainly interesting to see Michael Crawford continue to build on the legacy of his star making turn as "The Phantom of the Opera" with this collection of songs from Disney movies and musicals. These are mostly contemporary works, the exception being "Baby Mine" from the classic cartoon "Dumbo," which is turned into an exquisite little ballad by Crawford. The same applies to "I Know the Truth" from Broadway's "Aida," which indicates where Crawford's strength is on this collection. My favorite song on this album is "Your Heart Will Lead You Home" from "The Tigger Movie" (I vaguely remember there was such a thing, but have never seen it and never heard the song). Crawford is backed on this one by a children's choir and luscious strings. The featured duet this time around on Crawford's album is "If I Never Knew You" from "Pocahontas," sung with Sherie René Scott (apparently an up and coming young Disney singer). Your appreciation for most of these tracks may well depend on how fondly you recall the original performances. He comes close on "Colors of the Wind," but does not fare as well on "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Fortunately, "The Disney Album" is really aimed at fans of Crawford, and they will certainly continue to enjoy hearing him expand his repertoire of cover songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars A music connoisseur, December 29, 2002
This review is from: The Disney Album (Audio CD)
For anyone willing to hear typical disney music, this album could be something "musically" unfamiliar.
There is no typical orchestrated booms and metronomic drums, but melody guidance. This could be more like the best musicals of broadway than an action series television program. The orchestration and musical arrangements of this recording are simply outstanding and the voices are as richly and powerful as they could be.
If you appreciate fine music and you have this special feeling about disney's, you will TRULY enjoy this album. Michael crawford's voice has grown and matured wonderfully from his appearance on Hello Dolly some years ago...

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, October 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Disney Album (Audio CD)
Michael has a way of taking any song and making it his. When Michael sings you not only hear the song but you see it too. If I Never Knew You is beautifully done, pure magic. His voice touched every song with magic. I just wish he would have done a few more songs on the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Crawford does it again!, October 5, 2001

This review is from: The Disney Album (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful CD. Michael's voice just gets better and better -- just when you think he can't top his last performance, he does. Although I haven't seen many of the more recent Disney productions, I now have some favorite songs from them. The renditions are beautiful. I was disappointed that it wasn't longer, but then I can never get enough of Michael's voice. Thank you, Michael!
