I was really looking forward to this book, so when I received it I couldn't wait to check it out. It did not meet my expectations. There are some really good recipes, but most are just okay.

From realistic The Beasts Enchanted Gumdrop Roses to whimsical Frozen Francis Far-from-Feminine Ladybugs, youre sure to find something appealing to both eye and palette.

I dont have children but I felt like a kid as I stood in my kitchen shaping little Canine Crunchies. Though the recipe makes 10-12 bones, I only ended up with 8 to show for my efforts. This probably had something to do with my desire to sample a few to make sure they were up to my strict standards. I couldnt help it. They were good!

These are delicious and fun recipes. They are well thought out though some of them could do with better instructions. By trying to be simplistic, a few recipes sometimes leave out what may seem like obvious steps or are not as descriptive as they could be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Ideas, February 24, 2004
This review is from: The Disney Bakery: 30 Magical Recipes (Spiral-bound)
I bought this book expecting something different then when it was. I had bought a Disney party planner a few years back and most of the recipes in this book are close to or are exactly the same as the one in the other book. The ideas are cute, and would be great for little kid's birthday parties. The recipes are also in a wierd order, they group them together by movie, and not by type, i.e. the cakes are all in different places depending on what movie it's themed from. Some of the ideas may be to complicated if children want to help, but everything is managable. The Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast ideas are perfect for young girl parties, and The Lion King ideas are adorable. On the other hand the photographs are lovely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for the young cooks., December 20, 2000
This review is from: The Disney Bakery: 30 Magical Recipes (Spiral-bound)
It is hard finding a quality cookbook for the younger people. Many are too cartoonish, and fail to recognize that there are some young people that take their cooking seriously. This book lives up to serving up good tasting recipes, with a fresh presentation. This book would be great for a rainy day, a scout troup, or even for the parents to make up an interesting meal. A definate must buy for someone looking for a book for the young person in their life.

What fun to turn your favorite character or scene (and we all have them, don't we?) into a yummy treat! My Jr. girl scout troop tried a couple and had a blast w/them. These recipes are simple and very creative. Enjoy!
