This is a great little set and is fully compatible with standard slot cars from other makers. Also the track uses the standard Mattel/Tyco connectors so you could expand the system if you want (with black track). You could also use the standard Mattel/Tyco power supply, but be advised that it's a higher voltage so the cars may go shooting off such a small track.

One of the nice features of the controller is the ability to limit the travel of the trigger (3 settings), so that young kids don't go full throttle and run the cars off the track constantly.

I bought this toy for our grandson's 5th birthday, at his mother's suggestion. She thought he would like it after having seen the movie "Cars". The two cars take time to warm up, then go very fast, and occasionally go off the track. They have to be reset. My daughter told the birthday boy and his older brother, age 6 1/2, to think of resetting the cars on the track as their "Pit Stop". This just adds to the fun.

Timing-wise, this toy is fun for my boy (who's four), esp., right after he watched the movie. He's excited about anything "Cars" now. Racing the cars between Lightning McQueen and Doc Hudson reminds him of the movie and he can "re-live" the action. Otherwise, for the price of the toy, the quality could be better. It is a bit flimsy. The wheels on one of the car kept getting bent out of shape and has to be re-adjusted every so often. It doesn't always run smoothly and you would need to nudge it along so it gets back on the groove of the tracks. Overall, its a fun toy for my boy, but I just wish it is more robustly built, esp., for the price.

Wow, when you think about what Disney has done with Cars as a movie and the shear number of toys, this is one of the best. Most parents will remember having a race track that had cars on it that were electric, well, this is it, with a theme.

I think it is about time the electric race track made a come back. Usual toys are game boys where kids will play games by themselves, in this game, kids can have fun with another friend, or maybe parents.....and the product is pretty durable. When at the Disney store, I could not believe how many kids were playing with it.....just fun stuff.

Piece of junk. The track doesn't stay together well enough to maintain physical or electrical connectivity. There are little ridges where the sections meet that the cars get hung up on. At top speed the car on the inner track won't stay on its track. The cars come apart. Lasted about an hour before my kids and I concluded that it was totally irredeemable and returned it.

the only thing I would change is the option to have an AC adaptor. Batteries don't last long and it takes 4 "D" batteries. I can see the cost for fun piling up.

Also, this track would be great if you could buy more pieces to make longer tracks and if you could get other cars besides Doc and Lightning. The option to use regular cars that are not associated with the movie would make this set last well beyond the novely of the movie.

But my kids love it for now. just hoping we'll get more than a few months worth of use out of it.

My two sons really liked this track at first. However, once the novelty wore off, it was rarely played even though we kept it in a prime location. It also requires continual cleaning just to get it to work. The cars / track do not function unless they are cleaned. Would not recommend.

My five year old son got this for Christmas. It worked really good for one week. Then it stopped working. We checked the batteries and the cars. We can't figure out why it stopped. My son was so disappointed. Plus the track itself is very flimsy. We wound up thowing out some of the track parts (railings and cardboard pictures) because we got tired of them falling off all the time. I would not recomend this toy.

I read negative reviews about the race set, but chose to ignore them. I wish I had listened! Although the toy was very cute, it was not sturdy at all. The track would not fit together correctly. The cars would go around the track a couple of times then stop for no apparent reason. Not a good value for the price. We ultimately sent it back.

My son got this item from a friend and with in a week it wasn't working right. Needs constant cleaning and even then it won't work. Railings fall off all the time, never used the cardboard backrounds as I know they wouldn't hold up. Calling the company on Monday to see about the warranty on it which is 90 days.
