My 5 year old son loves this book. He can't wait for the movie to come out on dvd and this book is a great way to help him remember scenes from the movie. I really like how they used some audio clips from the movie in the story. I also like how the story lasts for several minutes and makes the sound so he can turn the pages.

No matter how many times my son hears this book, he never tires of it. He loves being in control of when to listen to it. He can't read yet, so this is perfect for him. Plus it's 15 minutes or so of entertainment and gives a tired mom a break. :)

My daughter is just beginning to read, and loves that she can "read along" with these books! She feels so independent!! I only wish they had more that are appropriate for ages 4-5.

My 5-year old LOVES this book & CD set. It incorporates wonderful elements from the movie and great sound effects!

If your kids love the movie, then this is the book to make them go to bed.

My son was waiting for this package but no CD in it. Shouldn't CD come together??? It looks like CD is included in its package in the picture.

My 5-year-old can hear this story over and over again. He'll sit and read along for 90 minutes if we let him. The voices of the characters change, very similar to the movie. I rated this short of a 5-star because I wish they included the movie songs in the CD.

One of the better read-alongs I've bought for my son. Good overview of the entire movie with a fair amount of text. David Jeremiah reads the story with good expression; the background music is used to good effect. Very enjoyable CD to listen to and holds my son's attention well.

The Cars read along CD and book combination is a high interest and exciting trade book. It is ideal for young males in grade levels K-3rd (listening, entertainment, and independent reading). The illustrations are excellent, i.e., colorful, high animation quality, clear, and vivid. The printed text is in large and clear readable fonts. However, there does appear to be quite a substantial amount of print on some pages--a bit crowded. The narrator has a clear and distinct voice. The variety of character voices makes for a charming read. However, this makes the book somewhat difficult to follow. The narration and character script may be difficult for emergent readers to follow along. The pace of the reading is very rapid and it does not allow remedial and emergent readers an opportunity to practice their decoding skills, letter-sound recognition, and their text-sound recognition. The continuous musical accompaniment can be rather distracting for young readers, emergent readers, and students with disabilities. It gives this book its charm but it is also very loud and often overshadows the read along. The book is suitable for a 20 minute reading session. I truly like the Read-Along series of books as they are attention grabbing, high interest, visually stimulating, and well written trade books. I highly recommend this book for grade levels first through third for regular education students. I also recommend this book for grade levels third through fifth for remedial, ELL, and students with disabilities (ESE). It is also ideal for introducing content specific terms related to racing, automobiles and transportation (piston, track, radiator, driver, trailer, pit crew, traffic, zoomed, tire, bumper, etc.). This is a read and re-read series.
