You can read the other potty seat reviews I've written - we haven't had much luck with some fancier, more expensive potty seats - this was purchased as a spur of the moment, I can't stand the horrible munchkin deluxe seat, that replaced the awful summer infant three in one, which in retrospect was better than the munchkin product - but still useless.

I wonder if some of what works and what doesn't depends on the child, how the kid sits, etc.

We have a standard (not elongated) toilet seat. This does move around on it. It does not seem totally secure. The pee guard IS very low. My son tends to sit further back on the seat, so he can use a hand to aim his pecker down while urinating (his baby sitter has ingrained this procedure on him). We have added a "lean forward" element. The kid never looks comfortable while going potty. On the other seats, pee sprayed everywhere (mainly out between the inner plastic guard and the adult seat/bowl - soaking the adult toilet seat and leaving pee running down the outside of the bowl). The difference that I see with this seat, it is smaller, lower and sort of sits in the middle of the standard adult seat, whereas the others were larger and higher and overlapped the adult seat more - changing the positioning of the inside plastic lip that should deflect the pee and keep it in the bowl.

We have two bathrooms, in the other bathroom we have the pricier cars seat (it had a sound element that failed fairly quikcly) and it has a higher pee guard. That seat pretty much never leaks - but urine tends to collect in the pee guard and under the seat. It has to be cleaned constantly and is stinky despite my wiping it down after each use and cleaning regularly with bleach.

Our 2 1/2 year-old son loves Cars (and cars in general). So I thought this was great for when we are starting to potty train him. Well, at least he loved Cars, so he liked it just because it was Cars. So he really never complained about his seat. But this toilet seat keeps sliding around the adult toilet that we always had to help him get on it, even though he's tried to get on it on his own. It's just so difficult for him. The pee guard is definitely useless. It gets the pee all over the seat but inside the toilet... oh and on his legs, too. It's pretty annoying. The only thing I probably like about it is that it's easy to switch around toilets (if you have bathrooms upstairs and downstairs).

I have no complaints about this. we just started potty training my 18 month old and he loves this. he get SO excited to sit on the potty just so he can use his "cars potty"
i disagree that it slips around. On our toilet (which is nothing fancy) it stays perfectly in place. there is no rubber or anything underneath BUT there is a ring with a lip underneath that fits *perfectly* into our adult toilet sit and holds it in place to keep from slipping.
the handles are great for kids who feel unsure about balancing on the seat and for bowel movements.
I would recommend this to anyone with a little one who loves the cars movie!

My son loved it and "needed" this one to go potty. I am glad he enjoyed it and seemed well enough made. No complaints.

This potty seat is not good at all!! The shield doesn't work...it just guides fluids down the outside of the toilet...maybe it would work OK for girls but it didn't work at all for my son. It wouldn't stay on the toilet either, when I picked him up it stuck to his behind. I ended up buying another by fisher price...a turtle one that worked really well...both to keep fluids in the toilet and attached to the toilet well.

I have a two year old grandson who loves cars and to make him wanna sit on this seat made it easier. It fits fairly well on the toilet seat I have since it is the elongated type toilet, slides back a bit and when he is sitting on it, I have to pull it forwards and hold it to keep it from moving back. It would work great on a round toilet seat without moving, but this works just fine for for what I need it for. I would buy it again if needed and the design is cute, well made. The only complaint I have about it is the cup protector in front does not want to stay in, I try to push it in the slide part but will fall out if you bump it slightly for any reason, So I have been just holding it there while he sits, other than those two issues the price it right for the short duration it will be used for.

I bought this for my 1.5 year old son who loves to sit on it. He likes the cars (but he wants to always touch them - ewww). I also bought the Arm and Hammer Secure Comfort Potty Seat by Munchkin because I didnt know which I would like and wanted one for upstairs and one for down. I like the arm and hammer one a little better because it fits the toilet better and doesnt move quite as much. Although the movement on this one is not a deal breaker!! But the Arm and Hammer seat can also be set up on its base when not on the toilet and has a scent thingy at the back all for the same price.

I would by this one again if my little guy didnt use the other seat or I was having a hard time with keeping his interest while training. I just like the features of the other seat better.
