A sure-fire hit for the tweener crowd!,

High School Musical is every tweener's favorite movie right now! Found this four days ago on Amazon and got it in time for my daughter's birthday party today. You should see eight 8-year-old girls singing the missing words to "When There was You and Me" or all getting up and dancing the missing dance steps to a video clip from "Get'cha Head in the Game"! WAY off the charts for the cuteness factor! Very enjoyable-- my only complaint was that at first glance we couldn't find a "Party Play" option like they have on comparable Scene-It games. It might be there, but it wasn't immediately obvious when we put the DVD in for my daughter's party. Otherwise, great fun! Top holiday gift? Oh YEAH!

Get your head in THIS game,

This review is from: Disney Channel's High School Musical DVD Board Game (Toy)
If your a parent of any kid from 6-12, you will be shocked to play this game and find out you know more about High School musical then you EVER thought you would want to. There is basically trivia and finishing the lyric of the song (I couldn't believe that I could remember, but then again, I find myself singing "get your head in the game" at work sometimes) but there is also dancing, where you have to complete the move. This is hilarious. My daughter (9) gets a big kick out of me doing the dance steps. She has wiped the floor with me a couple times, but I am getting better. This is basically Scene It for High School musical and we love it!
It also is a game that can be adjusted for time. Sometimes games can drag on and on but this one allows you to set the mark on how long the game will be, and as a busy mom, I LOVE that. I would highly recommend this game for kids as well as for a family togetherness game.

4 and 6 year old enjoy but can't do one category,

I bought this for my girls (then 4 and 6) because they have watched High School Musical endlessly. It has several categories of questions, ranging from fill in the blank lyrics to trivia from the movie to looking at shots of movie scenes to see if something has been changed. They love all these categories, and can answer many of the questions, but simply cannot answer one category -- where you watch a very short dance clip with a blacked-out segment, and you have to say what specific dance move would have happened in the missing seconds. If your kids have not memorized every step of the dances, they will lose on their turn every time if a dance question comes up. This frustrates my girls to the point where they rarely finish a game. Otherwise they do enjoy playing it, especially when friends come over.

Know your stuff,

This game is cute, however a tad difficult. I bought for my 9 year old daughter and even though we love the movie and have watched it a hundred times we had a hard time finishing the game. The hardest part is the question regarding missing dance moves. They will show a clip from a dance number and skip part. You then have to do the missing moves. I don't think that I have gotten one right yet! There are other questions and singing parts to help you through.

Excellent Game!,

My daughter, 9, and I play this game all the time. They have many different questions and the directions are easy to follow. I am even learning the dance steps! I also like the fact that one set of questions deals with details from scenes of the movie - this encourages my daughter to notice the "little things" as well as what is going on around her. Buy this game - but make sure you've seen the movie more than once.

My three daughters, ages 9 to 13 have all enjoyed this game immensely!! They love being quizzed on the singing, (as they already knew every word of the movie by heart), and are now having a great time with the dance moves. It's been the hit of many an afternoon get together with friends!!!

My daughter got this for Christmas, and we did enjoy playing it in a group of 5 people. The trivia questions are a good mix from super easy to rather obscure, and most of the "scene shot" questions are pretty obvious (which may be good if you're playing with the youngest viewers). But the dance questions are only for the well-practiced. We tried playing the game without first viewing the DVD option that teaches you ("crash course") the dance moves, and we hardly ever got them right. After viewing the lesson, we did a little better, but sometimes you have to just vote on whether the player got the answer right or not, as the answers are not in motion form and just have a snapshot of a position that's labeled "pump right" for example, so you'd have to know what that looks like.
Sometimes the question comes at you so fast (esp. dance moves) that you're not even sure what was asked, and unfortunately, there is no going backwards to hear it again. You get a 10 second timer and that's it. My biggest complaint is that the questions quickly became repetetive. Even in the first game. One time I had the exact same question twice in a row, so I assume they are generated randomly. (My kids got a little frustrated that one of them would almost always get trivia questions, while another kept getting dance questions that they couldn't get right.) They played it with friends on 3 occasions during the break from school, and there were only about 2 new questions generated in all. Mrs. Darvis' voice does get tiresome, but at least you can press the 'enter' button on the remote after the question has been answered so you can either go to the next player or question without having to listen to her same remarks ad nauseum. All in all, I think its biggest plus is the step-by-step instructions for learning PARTS of the dances: Get'cha Head in the Game, and We're All in this Together (steps for the chorus portion as well as the Wildcat Breakdown chant), but then my kids love to dance. The game is a great idea, but probably would've had a longer life if not made in electronic form. That way, they could put out booster packs of trivia questions.

My 15 year old daughter got this for Christmas. She enjoys it very much. It did seem to be pretty easy though. I had never watched the movie, and I could answer several of the questions.

My daughter, who absolutely adores High School Musical, loves this game! But so should others who play this game. And keep in mind, some of the questions will make you get up and "finish" a dance move as indicated on the dvd question. So it may or may not be a family game, but if it is, you have to get up and dance in front of everyone to answer some of the questions right, so you can't be dance-shy! :)

The game includes dance steps and completing the songs from the movie along with questions about things from the movie. My 7-year-old twins love the movie and are loving the game too.
