A good first chapter book.,

This review is from: Disney Fairies: Fira and the Full Moon (Disney Fairies) (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) (Paperback)
Light-talent fairy, Fira takes charge when the fireflies get the no fire flu. Tiered after organizing the lighting of Pixie Hollow, relief comes to Fira in the form of triplet new faires. However, Fira soon learns how hard it is to manage all her new responsibilities and to provide light to the mining fairies expedition. The colorful artwork provided by the Disney Storybook Artists will help develop young readers imagination. The easy to read chapters make this book an ideal read for children grades 2 to 4 and a great introduction to chapter book reading.

My 8 y.o. has fallen in love with these books. You typically can't fail with Disney products and these are no exception. The stories are interesting and unlike some series books for this age range, these books stand alone and are not "formula" books where only the names and places are changed, but the same event takes place. Each fairy has a talent and her talent solves the problem in her book. The illustrations are vivid and imaginative. Apparently there's a movie about Pixie Hollow that will be coming out soon and there are also toys starting to come out with the fairies.

Disney Fairies are Fabulous!,

Our 9-year-old daughter fell in love with Tinkerbell during a trip to Disney world last year. She used her spending money to buy Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg at Magic Kingdom. By the time we returned home she was enthralled with the details of the fairies and wanted to know more! Fira and the Full Moon is just one of about five amazing stories about the individual fairies from the bigger book. She has loved eac of these smaller books, too! The details about where they come from, what they eat, and how they bathe are enchanting for little girls! They are too cute for words.

A bit annoying - Audiobook review,

This review is from: Disney Fairies: Fira and the Full Moon (Disney Fairies) (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) (Paperback)
I didn't like this one so much, the triplets were really annoying and bratty and it took away from the overall enjoyment of the story. I listened to this as an audiobook and was really surprised that in this one Prilla somehow had a really thick British accent and sounded much older than the Prilla in the Quest of the Fairy Egg book. Actually, most of the accents and voices the reader did were pretty off. It will probably be confusing to your child trying to explain how come Tinkerbell and all the other fairies sound so different. It would be nice if the directors encouraged the voice actresses to listen to each other's recordings before taping a new book, the only fairy that sounded like herself was Vidia.
The story itself was okay but definitely not in my top 5 compared to all the other Disney Fairy stories...

"Disney Fairies: Fira and the Full Moon"
(Random House, 2006) ------------------------------------------------------------ A parable about time management for little kids... Fira, one of Tinker Bell's pals in Pixie Hollow, is in charge of the "light-talent" faeries, a very important job since they light the streets at night, etc. Fira's problem is that she can't ask fr help, even when too much work is heaped up on her. When all the fireflies (who help the light-talents) get the flu, Fira has double-duty, and that gets tripled when she gets three new recruits to train, a set of triplets who bicker and whine and constantly get into trouble. The depiction of three bratty kids is kind of funny for any parents who get roped into reading this book, and the lesson might not be lost on perceptive kids, too. I wouldn't say this is ne of the best Pixie Hollow books, but it's okay. (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews)

My nine year old daughter loves fairy books about Tinkerbell and her friends. She absolutely devours them as soon as I get them. What a boost for her imagination!

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

My daughter absolutely loves these books. So much that she did a book report in class on them and had a few friends read them. Now her friends are loving them so much too that they are begging to barrow them. I highly suggest these books!

From a 7 y.o.: "This was a great fantasy story. It was filled with a fun adventure. I loved it so much that I couldn't put it down or leave it at the house when we went out. It was the greatest book I ever read."

***** Spoiler Alert *****
Fira is outnumbered by her triplets and has to apologize to her townsfolk a lot. (Single mom + 3 bickering kids = go away now please.) But the day is saved when her kids disobey her instructions to stay home and follow her deep into a dangerous mine! Yay! Actually, the story was pretty good. A fun read. The CD version is read by the talented Debra Wiseman. |
