5.0 out of 5 stars Kaleidoscope/Viewer enhances 3 Fairy Stories, January 6, 2008
By

This review is from: Disney Fairies Tinker Bell and Friends Storybook and Kaleidoscope Viewer (Hardcover)
This book has 3 stories and a kaleidoscope/viewer with disks for each story. On the first page of each story there is a picture of the disks that go with that story. Within the story there are numbers which let you know which picture on the viewer disk corresponds to that part of the story. For each story there is a kaleidoscope disk and 2 viewer disks sorted by color; green for Tinker Bell's story, purple for Beck's, and yellow for Lily's. The viewer disks are numbered 1 and 2 so that you'll know which one to view first.

In the first story, "Tinker Bell's Struggle" (10 pages), Tinker Bell looses her hammer and is unable to fix things in Pixie Hollow. She has left her spare hammer at Peter Pan's secret hideout but she is afraid to face Peter Pan after her last visit when they parted with harsh words.

In the second story, "Brave Hearted Beck" (8 pages), the birds and ground animals get into a berry battle and berries are being thrown all over Pixie Hollow. Beck is the only one who can stop the confusion and unite everyone once again.

In the final story, "Lily's Strange Seed" (9 pages), Lily finds a mysterious seed and decides to plant it in her garden. The plant that grows seems like a troublesome weed to the other fairies and they want her to get rid of it, but Lily and her friend Iris are garden-talent faires and they know there is something special about this plant.

The kaleidoscope/viewer is a nice addition for children (OVER 36 MONTHS OLD) to use while they're being read to, or to play with seperately. The left side has a slot for kaleidoscope disks and the right side has a slot for viewer disks. Since the disks are removable, the kaleidoscope disk can fall out if the kaleidoscope is turned upside down and it may take a little practice to learn how to turn the viewer disk with ease. There is a light inside which operates with two cell batteries that are INCLUDED and already installed. We've been using it for a few days and the batteries are still strong, but when they run out they can be replaced with these brand sizes: Eveready A76, Maxell & Toshiba LR44, Duracell D303/D357. The battery compartment requires a screwdriver and batteries should not be replaced or handled by children.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice book, but add-ons distracting, January 11, 2008

This review is from: Disney Fairies Tinker Bell and Friends Storybook and Kaleidoscope Viewer (Hardcover)
The stories are good and the caleidoscope and projector are both a nice additions, but my kid gets distracted playing with them and does not pay attention to what I am reading. Also the projector broke after playing with it for a day and caleidoscope base got detached after less than a week
