5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully-illustrated stories about the fairies of Pixie Hollow, August 4, 2011
This review is from: Disney Fairies Graphic Novel #2: Tinker Bell and the Wings of Rani (Paperback)
My six-year-old daughter loves reading the Disney Fairies' Chapter Books, and those books have really helped her develop fluency in reading as well as motivating her interest in reading independently. She also loves illustrated books and though the chapter books have some full-color illustrations, they are heavier on text than illustrations. When I came across these graphic novels, I checked them out, and I thought they would (a) be great companions on car trips, commutes, etc. as they make for quick reads, and (b) help her discover another reading format/ genre, i.e. graphic novels. Surprisingly, though she loved these graphic novels, she still prefers the chapter books because they have more intricate story lines with detailed descriptions.

This Disney Fairies Graphic Novel #2 contains 5 stories revolving around the fairies of Pixie Hollow:

Colors of Friendship - art talent fairy Bess is stumped as to what to draw for Queen Clarion's art contest

The Lost Fairy - garden talent fairy Lily is reluctant to leave a rare blooming flower to look for a young, lost fairy, but makes the right decision in the end

The Most Beautiful Dress - Beck's dream dress is snatched by malicious Vidia, but will Beck let that ruin her happiness?

The Wings of Rani - readers will discover how Rani lost her wings and learn of Rani's big, generous heart!

Barefoot - When Queen Clarion's shoes go missing, the Queen decides to go barefoot, setting off a new fashion trend amongst the fairies of Pixie Hollow.

The stories are engaging and fun to read, and the color illustrations bring the world of Pixie Hollow vividly to life. Highly recommended for fans of fairy stories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tinker Bell and the Wings of Rani, August 2, 2010
By
Edna Tollison "Mama T" (Laurens, SC United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Disney Fairies Graphic Novel #2: Tinker Bell and the Wings of Rani (Paperback)
This book is five full comic original adventures of Disney Fairies and a sneak peek of book 3. The first story deals with an art competition in Pixie Hollow and Bess the best of the artist fairies is feeling discouraged because everyone seem to have the same idea that she has for her paintings. Lily the Garden Fairy joins Prilla and Tinkerbell in search for a new fairy lost in Neverland and is frightened by everything in her surroundings as she tries to discover who and what she is. This story "Wings of Rani" is where Rani rescues animal talent fairy Beck from drowning, she tells her a story while Beck waits for her wings to dry. This story being a comic adaption of book five of the regular Disney Fairies series "Rani and the Mermaid Lagoon" the tale of how Rani lost her wings. Finally when the queen's servants temporary lose her shoes and goes out barefooted, the other fairies decide to follow her new fashion trend and go barefoot themselves which help Tink and Bess in their work while causes Rani to get sick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Disney Masterpiece, July 30, 2010
While I was reading this, I was so happy to see that the author taught wonderful and valuable lessons in each story. One story was a story of friendship, another was about helping out even when it's not convenient for you. I was awed with the story of sacrifice and being different from everyone else. The author showed that sometimes things happen that make us different, and it's better to ask us about it than to stare or treat us differently. There were more stories, but I want you to take the time and read them for yourself. Click on the link above and head to Amazon to pick up a book of your own. You won't be sorry you did. (The idea is to claim the book is for a daughter/niece/friend of the family and then find it too beautiful to give up!)

Thank you very much again to Author Marketing Experts for the opportunity to review this wonderful book.
