Arrived QUICKLY - Fun magazine,

I know this is a review for the mag - but so many comments on magazines are complaining about their arrival time (this one too) that it may be useful - ordered 4/11/08 - delivery estimate 7/11/08. First magazine arrived 5/5/08 - e.g. less than a month after ordering!
I have had Family Fun in the past. It is a really nicely done (Disney owned) magazine - hence the re-order. The one thing I like about this magazine is that you do not have to be rich to utilize most of their suggestions/ideas. The crafts are cute and usually realistic for the recommended ages. There are often ideas that are suitable for the whole 3+ family. Many issues have spotlights on travel and things to visit - they change location and don't focus on all the hot spots all the time. For instance, I learned about Safari West - a Safari "zoo" near Santa Rosa, CA - not exactly a typical tourist trap (at least for kids). It does have a Disney slant - which can be a good thing (wholesome etc...) but don't expect a great deal of focus on diversity or multicultural suggestions (e.g. activities/places to visit). Look at this magazine basically true to its title - focusing on things families can do together.

Great magazine for moms and also for scout leaders,

As a stay at home mom and the leader for my daughter's Brownie troop, this magazine is worth every cent. Tons of games and craft ideas that are super cheap and lots of fun. There isn't an article or idea that I skip. I have had a hard time with finding magazines that fit in my lifestyle lately. As much as I love some gossip and beauty ideas like every woman, my life is more geared towards raising my kids and having fun with them. I have found this magazine is great for all family life and it is something I can safely leave on the living room table. My 7yr old daughter flips thru for recipes and craft ideas too! The only other magazine that I love as much as this is All You. Highly recommend both for stay at home moms.

Don't even have kids!,
This review is from: Disney Family Fun (1-year) (Magazine)
I first saw this magazine in doctors' offices and browsed through it. I loved it and I don't even have kids! I have given subscriptions as gifts to friends who do, though, and they love it. It has great - and simple - ideas for activities, recipes, advice, you name it. Give it a try, I think you'll agree.

Boredom buster!!!,

This magazine will help you do activities for holidays, school breaks, and the summer holidays. Our family always gets ideas for gifts to make for family and friends. Often we use the ideas in this magazine (games, recipes, crafts) to erase the word boredom from our vocabulary. We save every issue and have subscribed for over five years! We just renewed our subscription for another three years! We love it and would recommend this magazine to any parent who wants to do more with their children!

Beware of Auto-Renewal...,
This review is from: Disney Family Fun (1-year) (Magazine)
My mother ordered this magazine for me two years ago, thinking I would like the ideas for my classroom. It was an okay magazine, but it's 80% or more advertisements and other stuff... I was hoping it would be a variety of crafts and ideas, but those are almost lost in the ads. But that's not my problem... I guess when my mom ordered the subscription, she didn't notice the AUTO-RENEWAL portion. I just thank God that they don't have my credit card information, so they can't just take the money, because if they had it, it would just keep coming and coming.I just don't want the magazine anymore... it's not entertaining to me, and I don't want to pay for it. So month after month, I get "final notices" and pleas to pay my bill so that they can send the next magazine issue to me. I DON'T WANT IT, so I ignore the notices. I've even went online to cancel my subscription, but somehow the "cancel my subscription" link disappears once I log in to my account. I've e-mailed my complaint to them (this afternoon) and they've yet to respond. I wouldn't be so pi$$ed off if it wasn't for the "semi-threatening" notices... instead of taking the hint that I don't want their magazine and will not pay for it to be renewed, they've "renewed it in good faith", whatever the hell that is, and now demand payment. Last year this happened and I ignored it and finally got a notice saying that if I did not promptly send in payment, my credit scores would be affected (or something like that). Maybe I'm just not getting it, but why the hell would they send notice after notice after notice (and NEVER a phone call or e-mail or any other type of communication), and then finally say "never mind, we've renewed you anyway, so now you have to pay regardless". If you plan on getting this magazine, PLEASE check to make sure that you do not get auto-renewal, unless you just want it... and don't give your credit card to them either or they'll just keep pulling from you without mention. And for anyone from the Family Fun department, if you really cared about my business, you'd send an e-mail or make a phone call or otherwise contact me so that I could tell you "No thanks", rather than just sending snail-mail notices.

This was one of the first family magazines I ordered after 2 years of parenting magazines. I love the project ideas in here! I've done quite a few of them, and they all are just as easy as they look! The articles are good as well. I didn't have a problem with delivery times, and can't wait for each issue! I definately recommend that parents with children with 2+ yr children to get it!

We've had our subscription for more than a year now and we find at least 2-3 activities or ideas in each issue. We have two boys, now ages 5 and 4, and we share this subcription with them. The summer and holiday issues are the best.
Unlike "Child" magazine, the majority of the products in this publication are affordable for middle-income families. We cancelled our subscription to Child magazine and later learned it went out of business. Getting back to Family Fun, the magazine is affordable (less than $10 per year on Amazon) and a good value if you enjoy family activities. December 2010 UPDATE: We have continued our subscription now for a couple years and the magazine still provides at least 4-5 great ideas for family activities. If you are looking for a Christmas stocking stuffer, a one-year subscription to "Family Fun" is a good choice for a young family.

Family Fun is fun!,
By A Reader (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Disney Family Fun (1-year) (Magazine)
Family Fun magazine is a great source of ideas for arts and crafts projects, activities for the family, etc... It is well laid out and easy to read and I always end up trying an activity profiled. Amazon usually has great deals on this magazine at certain times of the year and I was able to get it for $5 for the whole year.

Ok,

The ideas are good and I could see myself doing some of them. I was dissappointed (although not surprised, it is Disney) with the amount of advertisements and promotions. Some of the projects seemed tailored towards the craftier parent. Didn't always feel like I could pull off the project. I will continue receiving it because despite the drawbacks it does meet the general need within my family for fun ideas. I haven't found another magazine that's better suited for what I am looking for.
