This item arrived with broken headphones. I was able to fix them, but they are very flimsy and cheap feeling. The little amp does what it says. It allows you to change from "clean" to "distortion' settings, and you can control volume and tone. No automatic shut-off means watch out for wasting the batteries! I recommend that you not waste your money on this. A beginners amp would be a better choice, since we typically connect this little amp to an external speaker for "out-loud" jamming.

The Disney Hannah Montana Pocket Amp is an excellent first-step for the beginner electric guitar student.

Granted, the full volume of the device (through the headphones) is not really that loud, but the manufacturer probably shrewdly designed it that way to prevent hearing loss. Plug in a 3.5-RCA6MM cable into the 3.5mm(1/8") "phone" jack to convert the 3.5mm (1/8") mini stereo to dual RCA (male) plugs, to play the Hannah Montana Pocket Amp through the left and right Auxiliary inputs of your home stereo or portable stereo system. It'll be plenty loud enough.

I am actually using the Disney Hannah Montana Pocket Amp as a preamp for a dynamic microphone. This way, my battery powered outdoor stereo system (with wireless extension speakers) can be set up for everyone to play their iPods, etc. through the stereo system, at full volume, with the microphone / Pocket Amp combo always handy to use as a professional-sounding public address system.

Although I don't intend to use the supplied stereo headset with the device, I was impressed with the heavy-duty construction of the unit, as well as the surprising full volume and audio range coming out of those tiny speakers.

As far as the childish appearance of the headset and preamp:

I peeled off the headset decals and removed the star design of the preamp, with a belt sander. They now are more presentable, for my purposes, anyway.

I was a little hesitant with some of the negative reviews but, I ended up two more. One for my nephew and one to modify. I don't see how anyone can say it's cheap quality... Maybe the Made in China marking? :D All kidding aside It's very solid. The wire on the headphone is an eighth inch thick. I twisted, wore it across my chest, and tried to pull the speakers off. I couldn't break it. The preamp is of very good quality too. Haven't had any issues with the belt clip. The Input jack is a big plus to me. I don't like preamps extending out of my guitars jack. The volume control feels good and is scratchless sounding. Distortion has very good sustain. Clean lacks warmth and has lower output but, it's decent. I use rechargeable batteries without problem. Works well to convert to line levels for computers and stereo equipment. Really wasn't a chance for the price.

Electric guitar. Where can you hide? This is a wonderfull invention and in purple. What more can a girl ask for.

Great for silent guitar playing. Just plug your guitar in and jam.........You may get some funny looks from your friends ( guys only ) HA HA.........But for the QUALITY and MONEY you can't beat this little silent amp...........also check out the Fender Hello kitty silent amp toooooo.....Randy White

It was much cheaper quality than what I was expecting. I was hoping that it would be as nice as the guitar... but it wasn't. We had a hard time figuring out the battery and then have had to replace the battery frequently.
