5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fun for adults too! October 3, 2014
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii U| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
My husband and I pre-ordered this for ourselves :) No we don't have kids, but we figured we'd give this a try because we love Disney and video games, and with all the buzz about the first one, we went ahead and ordered this one. This is a review from an adult who had not played the first one yet, so I will not be comparing improvements.

First off for those of you with a Wii U (I don't know about the other consoles) but you can get Infinity 1.0 for free on the nintendo e-shop. Also the base works with 1.0 charecters and play sets, so if you are thinking of getting 1.0 or 2.0 then just get this one because you can essentially have both.

Anyways, I will start off with the toy box:
This I have to say is a little confusing. I was really looking forward to 'endless possibilities' but my biggest complaint is the toy box memory. If you have a lot of buildings or blocks, then it will get to the point were you can't build or place anything else. They don't really explain this to you either. I had to look online and found out that the smaller the blocks are, then the more memory it takes up. So, it's better to build with large terrain blocks rather than small building blocks. This goes along with my second biggest complaint, is that they don't really explain very much at all to you. Theres an introduction that tells you the very basic, but after than your left to figure out all these different buttons and menus to yourself. I had to do alot of reading online to realize everything you can do with the toybox.
Another tip: don't try to build everything you want in one toybox. For example if you want a fairytale land, then make a 'Fairytale Land' toy box. Open a new toy box save for a pirates themed toy box.

We loved the original 1.0 game so my daughter saved and saved when she knew this one was coming out in a few months, and here we are the first week and it really is a fun game.

it's very similar to the first game. Game play is the same basically, the rules of using characters and toy boxes are similar too BUT this game is a fantastic improvement.

There are easier ways to build in Toybox mode now, and considering my daughter is only 7, that is a big help.

The characters seem to be able to do more too, but that could just be because they are superheroes!

You can actually build buildings that you can go INTO - this is my daughter's favorite improvement as she loves to build new worlds and she likes that her characters can now go inside and she can arrange furniture etc (she's a big fan of HGTV so of course she loves designing).

I think some of the game play in the actual playsets might be a little harder - we have struggled to get through some of the Marvel parts so far - but I actually think that is good, because when it's too easy for her in a game she doesn't want to play it anymore.

Now she is saving for the Guardians of the Galaxy characters and playset as she loves that movie.

If only Disney would bring out a Phineas and Ferb playset, she would be in heaven!

Highly recommended for family play too - kids love to whoop their Dads butts, and my daughter plays this game better than he ever will!

We're having a good time, but when did things stop coming with instructions? It took us a long time to figure out how to build things in the toy box. I had to search on line to discover how to get another player to play the game.
I get that part of the fun is discovery, but sheesh!

My son loves the game, but there should be a guide or tips for when he gets stuck.

2.0 out of 5 stars Real talk about Disney Infinity 2.0 December 30, 2014

Okay I want to start this out by saying that I want to love Disney Infinity. I have both the first and second versions and a number of figures to play with. Because I wasn't very interested in the Marvel play sets I opted to get the version that is Toy Box only. Using the Wii U there are so many issues with the Toy Box. This version has a lot of tutorials that are very fun to complete. Only problem is that after you play for a bit you start getting an error message saying that you've reached your Graphics Memory limit making it IMPOSSIBLE to complete all of the tutorials. I've tried twice, completing the tutotials in a different order each time and both times I ran into the Graphic Memory issue before completing my last tutorial. This disables things in the game world for example making it impossible to place cars or helicopters in the world. Working out of a blank toy box I ran into this problem too. Disney gives you a wide array of stuff you can place in Toy Boxes and Interiors (the latter is fun and similar to a dollhouse or the Sims). But place a handful of larger or more complex items and you run into the same problem disabling parts of the game making it a lot less fun. In general there is a steep learning curve despite the tutorials. For example it took a lot of frustration and fruitless Internet searching to figure out basic controls like how to rotate objects. Some quests just don't work, for example Scrooge McDuck keeps asking me to put a second story on my Interiors house despite the fact that I have a second story. I even tried deleting and readding a story and still didn't work. So much potential here for cool gameplay but so many bugs that make the game frustrating.
