5.0 out of 5 stars You'll be pleasantly Surprised!!! April 13, 2014
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Prepare for a semi long and descriptive review of the game!

Disney Magical World is a life simulation game. Developed by Namco Bandai and localized by Nintendo. The game is of similar likeness to Animal Crossing, Rune Factory and Harvest Moon. However it is not a copy or a rip off of any of those games. It fits nicely into it's own niche environment all while being Disney. This game is strictly single player apart from local and online play. There is also no trading feature, local play allows you to give and receive gifts and visiting cafe's online allows you to sometimes receive little gifts. You won't want a trading system though. You won't want to share everything you make and collect. Greedy haha. but it's true.

Love Disney, love content heavy games, and like casual gameplay? Being a Disney geek might also help and basic reading ability. Then read this review and get excited!!

When you start the game apart from the prologue which forces you to complete it to continue the game, you won't know where to start. Luckily it helps advance you in the game instead of being a nuisance like some game tutorials can be. You won't start with anything, thanks wonderful world of magic. Luckily things unlock really easy and very fast at the start if you stick with it for minimum of an hour. Yes an hour.

The game features many different things to do. Such things include, Fishing, Farming, Interior Designing, carpentering, fashion designing, being a warrior, being a chef, a small cafe business owner and so much more. Best part is your not forced to do any of it at any time. All of it runs simultaneously so if your bored with being a warrior you can easily run to your shop in your armor to check how the business is going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorably addicting April 12, 2014
I'm an adult fan of all things Disney. When I bought this game, I didn't realize how amazing it was really going to be. My standards were low because I hadn't heard much about this game and it was only coming out at $30. This game is customization heaven. You get a cafe, a room above your cafe, and there's so many things to wear. There's also a streetpass feature and local wireless feature to allow you to interact with other players in their cafes. I get excited when I get to take pictures with my favorite Disney characters and throw themed parties at my cafe.

This is not like Animal Crossing. It's more like Rune Factory and Fantasy Life. You have quests that unlock in all the different worlds depending on how many stickers you earn. It's fun to get ingredients and recipes to keep unlocking surprises. Questing is fun and you use a wand to defeat different types of ghosts. You can upgrade your wands and questing outfits for increased magic and HP, because it gets increasingly more difficult.

The Easter DLC and Sleeping Beauty DLC are well worth it too. Together they're only $3 and since this game was already cheap, it was definitely okay. They add quite a lot to the game. There's a seasonal event going on right now, so it's a great time to pick up this game and enjoy the Easter festivities!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very fun, exceeded my expectations. April 17, 2014
First of all, I'm going to provide (or try to provide) a detailed description of what the game is like thus far for me (12 hours in) the playstyle, objectives, etc, so here it goes:

You start by creating your character (avatar) and you can import a Mii from your 3ds to use as well if you want. There is an introductory prologue in which you meet characters such as Mickey and Minnie / Pluto / Donald and Daisy, Scrooge and his nephews, and Goofy. If you've ever been to Disney World, the opening city is basically like the Magic Kingdom with a fishing hole, a main plaza, the giant castle, some parks, etc. It looks really cute / nice. I found this very nostalgic. I'm 23 years old and well, these characters really bring back memories from when I was younger and playing this game made me really happy for some sappy reason. Moving on...

The prologue teaches you how to earn "stickers" which are this game's form of unlocking achievements. With every sticker you obtain, you unlock a feature of the game that wasn't available to you previously. If you're a completionist, collector, or enjoy games that feature questing, grinding, farming, crafting, cooking, managing a store, furnishing a home, collecting cards, fishing to unlock more events -- read on.

You will need to speak with Daisy early in the game and she will teach you about using her clothing boutique to create new clothing styles. Every certain interval of stickers earned unlocks more clothing recipes that you can create with Daisy. Materials for the clothing can be obtained in instanced dungeons (the game calls them "episodes" but they are basically dungeons.) Clothing has special purposes in this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hopelessly hooked! April 15, 2014
This game was only on my radar a few weeks before it came out. I thought it looked interesting but I don't typically jump into a brand new game until it's got some solid reviews out there. Thanks to one of the very detailed reviews here on Amazon, I decided to give it a try. This was one of those games I thought I'd maybe pick up here and there, but that would reside in my son's collection as "his" game.

I was very pleasantly surprised that this game has far more depth than I was anticipating. If I had to compare it to another 3DS title, I would compare it to Rune Factory, albeit with a slightly lower difficulty level and complexity. If you've played and enjoyed Rune Factory, you will recognize many many similarities here. The fishing and farming mini games are very similar to the ones in Rune Factory, and the way things are crafted is also very similar. The only difference being you don't craft them from inside your home, you go to other people to craft them for you by providing the needed goods. You will be running around the world, gathering goodies to make new stuff, completing requests/favors from the townsfolk, among many other familiar activities.

However, where Disney Magical World stands apart from Rune Factory is in it's beautiful Disney immersion. The town you live in is called Castleton, but it will be very familiar to fans of the parks in theme and style. Disney characters wander around town and change frequently so you never know who you'll meet. Disney characters as well as the regular villagers will ask you to do things for them. What I found interesting and unique to this game was that the requests are on a timer. They seem to reset a couple times a day, so if you don't complete one, it will be replaced by a new request.
