This review is from: Disney Mix Max - Ice Blue Chrome (Electronics)
I bought this toy 9 months ago thinking it would be good to upload videos on for my 9 year old to watch while on the go. The mix max itself is very lightweight, looks metallic but definitely I had my doubts at first. The biggest disappointmet was the lack of movies to buy from disney. They were always sold out at the store or online. I did do some research and found out successfully how to get my own dvds onto this thing. There is a software that you can download online for about $25. Anyway it was called ImTOO DVD ripper Platinum or ImToo DVD to Pocket PC Ripper . There is a free trial version for you to try before you buy. I did, and basically you insert your DVD into your computer and this software converts it to wmv files which is what the mixmax uses. Then you save the file onto your computer and drag the file onto an SD card. Now uploaded onto the SD card, you insert the card in your mixmax and wala, you have your own dvd movie of your choice on the mix max. The files are small, but I did download "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone" into a 1 gb card with room to spare for I guess one more movie. The quality of the movie was very good, sound wise and picture wise. All her friends are amazed at her mixmax and want one now.

WARNING TO MAC OWNERS,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Disney Mix Max - Ice Blue Chrome (Electronics)
Just got our MixMax so don't have anything to say about the device itself, but I do want to share my experience loading music from iTunes via my Mac OS X onto this device. IT WAS HARDER THAN I EXPECTED! After 12 hours of attempts (starts and stops) and many phone calls to Disney, to Apple, etc. I can finally say I did it successfully. I got the songs my kids want onto a MixMax. Yeee Haaaw!
Here's what finally worked. 1. Create your playlist in iTunes 2. Go to the web and download "NoteBurner" I tried several other programs without success. This one worked. Follow their online guide. 3. Create a virtual burned CD on NoteBurner. What this does is convert files from .m4a to .mp3 4. Drag and drop onto the MixMax 5. Eject MixMax (I know it says "Do Not Remove" on the screen of the MixMax, but according to Disney, go ahead and do so) PS: Step negative one is to throw out the "READ THIS BEFORE USING..." and the itty bitty CD that comes with the device. These do not apply to Mac. Remember that when instructions tell you to "right click" use "control" and click. I've read that transferring video is harder.

This is the second mix max I have purchased and my 3rd daughter wants one now also. It is definitely a brilliant product the film quality and sound are great! It means quiet journeys in the car now as they each watch what they want and we don't have to listen. BUT you do need to be good with a computer to be able to get the films into the right format!
