This is a wonderful resource for a one-stop look at "all things Disney." However, be forewarned that this book does have its mistakes and is not completely thorough, so don't expect something exhaustive...but this is pretty close to it. Descriptions tend to bounce back and forth between incredibly descriptive to incredibly nondescriptive. A tv show that lasted literally only a month will sometimes have a much longer description than a park attraction that had been up for years. There are other mistakes that veteran Disney lovers will also note. For example, the encyclopedia lists "Pecos Bills" eatery (Frontierland) in Disney World as serving some Mexican fare. However, that is incorrect...the Mexican fare is served at "El Pirata y El Perico" eatery (Adventureland), but this eatery is not even listed in the book at all. The two do share an outside dining area. It lists "Caribbean Plaza" (home to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) in Disney World as "near Adventureland", when it's actually a part of Adventureland and borders Frontierland. Those are just a couple of examples of little mistakes throughout the book. That said, it is a wonderful compilation of everything Disney and is a great gift for any Disney lover!

I can safely say this book is a "must have" for any fan of Disney. <P> The book, "Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia," truly lives up to its billing. Beginning with "Ames, Willie" (television star of "Runaway on the Rogue River") and ending with Zort Sorts (an educational 16mm film about an environmentally helpful alien), this thorough book leaves no stone unturned. <P> Whether you want to know more about Disney's early years (see Kansas City, Iwerks, Alice Comedies, or Oswald the Lucky Rabbit), or wish to learn about Disney in the 90's (see Ovitz, Captain John Smith, Disney's America, or BoardWalk), it is all here. <P> What's your favorite thing about Disney? Movies? You'll find entries about "Snow White" and "AIDS: What Do We Tell Our Children." Music? The Sherman Brothers are listed, as are Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Restaurants? This book is a great resource for all Disney fans. All the characters, all the movies (unfortunately, the Mephisto movie made in collaboration with Salvador Dali is not in the book) and all the attractions, parks, properties and influentials employees are mentioned. Maybe just not as exhaustive as I would like it; it is, however, a great resource.

The book contained all the Disney information available at the time. Unfortunately, it was published in 1996 and so is lacking a lot of current data.

I love this book it gives you pretty much anything and everything a disney fan would want to know up to 2005-2006. There are photos and discriptions of movies, attractions, actors and actresses, books, if it has to do with Disney it's in there.

The only thing is it's been 5 years since this was released and alot has happened it could use an update!

Wow! Great book...my daughter hasn't put it down since I purchased it for her! Highly recommend it for anyone wanting to know everything htere is to know about Disney!

This is a very good resource for Disney info on parks, movies, tv shows and attractions. I think it would be almost impossible to do a "perfect" guide as everyone has their own subjective list of favorites that they want extensive detail on and less liked things that they want a brief overview on. Being the archivist for the Walt Disney Company gives the author a lot of inside info that one could probably not get elsewhere though and there is a lot of fun facts and info in this book.
From my point of view, Smith sometimes is too complete. Do we really need to know the VP of marketing from 1988 to 1990 for Disneyland Paris or the names of a memeber of the Board of Directors from 1999 to 2002? One thing I'd like to see more of is comparisons of rides and attractions that are in multiple parks around the world. Such as the FL version is a minute longer than the CA and Japan versions or they're identical. Also, I'd like to see more pictures and photos but these are relatively minor complaints. 4.5 Stars.

My daughter had borrowed this book from the library. I couldn't believe I could buy this book at such a great price. And it was in great shape. The book cover was a little beat up, but what are book covers for? To protect the book. We are so happy with our purchase. And might I say, you can't go wrong with a Disney book. She loves this book!

My daughter (she is 10) saw this book in a store and wanted it. We told her to wait and we would get it at another time. Of course when we went back, it was gone. We took a trip to Disney World and so when we got back she had to have this book. I found it here online and I had to get it for her. She is constantly picking this book up and referring back to it. She comes to us asking if we knew this or that about movies or anything new she has discovered about Disney. It is a great book to learn alot about Everything Disney!! My daughter loves it!! If you love all things Disney and want to know all there is about it, this is the book!!

This is the Disney BIBLE! Everything you have ever wanted to know about anything dealing with Disney. Films, stars, TV, etc. Two thumbs way up! I own the first edition and this one is even better, more up to date on all your favorites! An absolute must for any Disney enthusiast!
