4.0 out of 5 stars A bargain!
Since this is a rock-bottom cheap unit, I didn't expect it to do a lot, and it doesn't. But, what it does do it does well.

First, don't be put off by the Disney theme. It is very easy to swap out the plastic film borders. I reversed mine to the solid white back in just a few seconds and it's very handsome. The unit has a 'foot' that allows it to be propped on a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor resolution, but functional
I got the same item with a different faceplate for half the suggested retail, and I'm glad I didn't pay a penny more.
"High resolution" is only high in that 480 and 234 are high numbers for little kids to count to. And they (or folks who need glasses) are the only ones who would not see the poor image resolution.

Since I got it cheap, and besides the very...

This review is from: Disney Pix-Frame - Digital Photo Frame - Hannah Montana and Disney Princess Interchangeable Faceplates! (Electronics)

The unit has a 'foot' that allows it to be propped on a desk in landscape or portrait style. It also has notches on the back so that it can be hung on a wall. The power cable is about 6' long.

The display is a reasonable size (7") and very crisp. I'm using it to display a large collection of scanned film and native digital images and I have absolutely no complaints about color or sharpness.

The controls are very rudimentary. The unit is on or off, with no control over the transition or display speed. The 'MODE' button is actually on on/off, without any mode-changing functions. There are also buttons that can pause the display, skip ahead or back and rotate the image.

The unit can be connected to a computer by a USB port and it has a reasonable 128 megabytes of onboard memory. This is enough room for dozens of pictures sized for the display. You can also use an SD card. I'm using a 2gb SD card with no problems.

I encountered one problem in which the unit would lock up on a single image or run away and display gibberish. The solution was to resize some of the larger images on my SD card. This seemed to work and the unit has been running several thousand images off the SD card for over 24 hours with absolutely no problems.

This picture frame is cheap. And, while you get what you pay for, you actually get an amazing value if you put a tiny bit of effort into working with the unit.

Since I got it cheap, and besides the very misleading "high resolution" it works as advertised, I give it a couple stars.
_If_ it lasts 18+ months maybe it could earn another star.

If you want a nice frame, look for something that advertises a minimum of 800x480.
