5.0 out of 5 stars Works MUCH better than I feared it would
I've been looking for a camera for my three year old to indulge her interest in photography with and I haven't been satisfied by the reviews for any of the "little kid" cameras to pull the trigger on a purchase until I saw the reviews for this one. I'm very satisfied with my purchase for several reasons.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Camera, VERY POOR QUALITY FLASH, September 15, 2008
This review is from: Disney Pix Jr. - Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Electronics)
I purchased this camera instead of the "Kid Tough" Fisher Price camera, because my 4 yr old son was having a Donald/Mickey birthday party and I thought it would be fun for him and the kids to run around taking pics of each other especially with the added feature of adding the disney images into the pics. That part was a hit! But quality is a big factor. When the flash is used or the sun is directly on the subject they get washed out, you can barely make out who the person is. Without the flash (if the lighting is descent) the photo quality is actually pretty good. For the price I would have expected a bit better quality even if it is a kids camera, some kids take really good pictures and with this camera, they don't turn out very good because of the flash or direct sun light!
Being able to add Disney characters is a really fun feature and the software has a lot of fun stuff to play with. Bad part is that once you download the pics to the software it deletes them from the camera so the kids can't look at the pics on the camera anymore. I had given my son my old SD card so he could keep all his photos on his camera and my computer wouldn't get bogged down with his pics, but everytime we load the camera to the software it saves them to the computer and deletes them off the camera. This may be something I need to change in the preferences, but it isn't a simple "figure it out" fix as I've been trying.
Over all Fun Camera for kids ***** Five stars, Flash * one star, 4x6 print quality ****.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works MUCH better than I feared it would, May 30, 2009

I've been looking for a camera for my three year old to indulge her interest in photography with and I haven't been satisfied by the reviews for any of the "little kid" cameras to pull the trigger on a purchase until I saw the reviews for this one. I'm very satisfied with my purchase for several reasons.

- She doesn't hold it perfectly still when she takes some of her pictures but it seems to focus pretty well and pretty quickly anyway. Just a little blur in some of the pictures and they're usually the ones where she was moving way too much while taking the picture.

- Substantial enough that you feel like you're holding something, but not so heavy that she can't carry it and use it for awhile. Nice grips on the sides, good button placement.

- Easy to use. She "got it" right away.

- The software is a little slow, but it works pretty well from what I've seen so far.

- Battery consumption is much better than I thought it would be. She's filled the camera three times and carried it all over the place and it's still showing full battery bars.

- The flash, however, is quite bright. It's easy to blow out stuff if the picture is taken too close to the subject of the picture. I covered about half the flash with a piece of black electrical tape and this seems to have helped a lot, YMMV.

Overall, I'm quite pleased and my daughter is over the moon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great camera for kids, January 16, 2009

I agree with the previous review regarding the flash being VERY bright, but as long as the child is not too close to the subject it is not a problem. My daughter, who is 6, just got this for Christmas and she LOVES it. VERY user-friendly, simple, easy to hold, etc. The software that comes with it is fantastic. After trying two other "kids" digital cameras, we think this is the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Would've given it 5, except for that darn flash!, May 8, 2010

I actually do love this camera, as does my 5 year old daughter. The battery life is amazing, the graphics are fun, it's super easy to use. The only drawback is the brightness of the flash, which I had read about when I was researching this product. BUT, I came up with a simple solution that almost fixes the problem. I just cut to size about 3 layers of scotch tape and put it right over the flash to tone it down a bit and it helped AND you don't even notice the tape is there. All in all, a great camera that any kid (and parent) would love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a Photographer's Child, February 15, 2009
This review is from: Disney Pix Jr. - Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Electronics)
My daughter received this camera as a Christmas gift. She's 3 years old and learned to work it in about 10 minutes - including adding some of her favorite Disney characters to the photos ( from Little Einstein, Tigger & Pooh, Mickey, etc) The flash is very bright, but it's not a problem if the child isn't too close to the object - any flash would be bad a foot away from the subject. The picture quality is pretty good considering that the resolution is about that of a cellphone. This camera has been dropped, kicked, tossed... and it's still running on the batteries we put in two days before Christmas. I was looking for a case for it, but then I realized how silly it is to have a case for an item that is supposed to be "kid tough" (see fisher-price). Please do not confuse this item with Disney Pix - this the Disney Pix JUNIOR. I hear the camera for older kids has horrible reviews; THIS one, however, gets top marks and my husband's a photographer and I do a fair amount of digital design work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera!, July 31, 2010

We have had the camera for almost a year now. We got it for my son for his 5th birthday. He really loved being behind the camera, but we were always nervous with him being behind ours. We bout a different kid freidnly camera, but the quality was awful. My son is a shockingly good photographer and takes amazing photos with this little camera. The only time we have the washout problem is when he's too close to what ever he is photographing, but I have the same problem with my camera. He loves being able to take pictures and see them on the computer and even have them printed out and put in a photo book.

I read many of the reviews for digital cameras for little ones on Amazon before purchasing, and I'm so glad I did. This camera is perfect for my three year old grandson. It has just enough buttons that it's challenging enough, but it's not overly complicated. He loves the fact that he can insert Goofy or Mickey or many other characters into the pictures of all of us.

Your child can throw this camera across the room..........if only adult cameras were so sturdy. The photos are a good quality, only limited by the talent (or lack thereof) of the child. Our 4-year old lit up like a Christmas tree when he opened this gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great durable and easy to use for kids, January 21, 2010

My daughter just turned three and was able to pick the camera up and start using it right away. The rubber grip around he camera makes it easy for her to hold onto the camera and use all the functions. She loves the ability to add characters to her shots of which Daddy is in quite a few shots with Mickey. She plays with it everyday. The download is very simple for download to you computer. Bottom line is this is a great simple and fun to use KIDS camera. The only aspect my daughter did not like about the camera was it does not have a timer like Mommy and Daddy's so she doesn't have to hold the camera to take a picture.

Nice sturdy camera that is simple enough for my girls too use. It is very sturdy and memory card slot with 4 AA batteries (not a camera specific battery) are all nice touches. Great 1st camera.
