My 3 year old granddaughter received this for her birthday from her aunt.Consists of a pink plastic CD player(with pics of the Disney Princesses on the lid)three tiny CD,s and carrying strap.It also has flashing lights,an on/off button and forward/reverse button.However,the CD,s are just music,no words.The music is not the greatest and can grate on an adult's nerves after awhile.There is no volume button(think LOUD)and you cannot play any other CD,s on it which is why I gave it only three stars.But it was one of Kiersten's favorite presents.

My daughter received this from her grandparents and frankly, she loves it. Yes, as some have noted the songs don't have words, but that has never been a requirement for music as far as I know. Yes, it does grate on your nerves after a while, but what audible child's toy doesn't? Yes, it doesn't have volume control, but I've never found it offensively loud. Some of the benefits of this toy are: she can DJ herself into oblivion with classical music that is underscored by the geniuses who originally composed it (which breeds familiarity to their greatness); she is always asking me to dance with her, which I almost always oblige. How can I turn down a dance from a delighted lady? We enjoy this toy together.

My daughter loves this toy. She enjoys dancing to the different tunes and there seems to be quite a lot.

My daughter received this as a gift for her 3rd birthday and she loves it!

PROS
- the disney princesses are always a hit at our house
- great size for traveling in the car... my daughter loves to bring this along in her "purse" and change out the music, press play, press "next", etc
- allows my daughter to think she is playing a real cd, but I don't have to worry about it getting scratched
- just to mention, I have not noticed a problem with the volume being loud

CONS (from Mommy perspective):
- the lid is not durable, it keeps coming off but I am able to reattach it while she listens
- no lyrics to the music (but my daughter doesn't seem to care)
- there is no place to store the cds when not in use... we've had some near-misses on losing them while traveling
- because the music is built into the player, there is no additional music to purchase for it which, in my opinion, would extend the life of the toy

I thought this "first CD set" looked adorable and wanted one for my 4 yr old. I found this exact item at Target for around $13.00....not on sale, but the regular price. I think it's ridiculous how much it's selling on Amazon.com. I love Amazon, and there are some really great deals, but this is not one of them. Once my daughter gets this item for Christmas and plays with it for awhile, I will update this review on the quality of the toy itself. But if you're looking to buy this, go to Target and save some money.

I've updated this product to 4 stars since my four yr. old really likes this toy and I think it's pretty cute. The music is most definitely fast, annoying and poor quality. That is the reason one star is deducted. I like that she can switch "dvd's" and that you can skip through the songs with a fast forward button or go back with a rewind. Also the stop, play, eject buttons work. It keeps her entertained. She doesn't seem to be bothered by the quality of the music and does her best to sing along. For $13.00 this toy is worth it. I would even be willing to pay $5.00 above that price. But any more that... NO way!

I like to dance to the neat songs. I even had a performance with this thing! I use this a lot, even though my parents think it makes a racket! Anyways, this toy is awesome!! I wish there were more plastic cds though!

--> below is my original review, but I have to update it and say my girls love playing with this player. I still don't get it. But even my almost 2 year old can play the "cd"s, which is so cool to her. Great for travel. I increased my star ratings it doesn't seem to be showing up. I'd give it more like 5 stars for fun. I' decrease durability to two stars, the thing doesn't close properly but my two year old did play with it a lot.

You can get a real (small & portable) CD player for $20 - $30. CDs additional, but you probably have those anyway.

My kids enjoy this b/c they can control it on their own more easily than their CD player, and take it in the car etc. But it only plays tunes, not words, which I didn't realize. And you can barely recognize the tunes, they play very quickly, b/c all the music is stored on the "player". basically, it's like one of those books that play songs in terms of sound quality (actually, not as nice as my princess book but it has more songs than the book). but my girls are into it for now, I doubt it will last that long (girls ages 6, 4, almost 2). definitely not worth any more than the $14 i paid for it at target

My daughter got this for Christmas and we were immediately dismayed to discover that the volume adjustment is... a sticker. Yep, there is a sticker that says "volume" and it shows the appropriate markings for turning it up or down, but there is no way to adjust the volume. The volume is pretty loud too. Annoying.

However, she loves the thing and we like it because there is no problems with CD's getting scratched since they are just plastic disks that snap in (they don't even spin). It would have been nice if there was a spot to store the extra disks.

Purchased this for our princess obsessed daughter for her 3rd b-day. This child walks around the house singing from the minute she wakes up until she goes to bed. Thought we had gotten the perfect present. This toy sucks! Saw it at Target and bought it - should have researched it first. The songs have no lyrics and they sound like they are stuck on fast forward and there is no volume control. Three year olds need the words!!! Thought the packaging was really mis-leading - says "songs" and there is what looked like a volume control button on the front of the player - it's really just a sticker. This thing got on our nerves in about 5mins - she was playing it in her room and I could hear it downstairs in the kitchen and it was still loud. It is going to "disappear" - will be replacing it asap with something better. Don't waste your money!!
