How to play, snapshot!
As a team, players decide which color deck they will play. Each deck offers a variety of cupcake combinations. The pink deck has recipes for single princess cupcakes. The blue and purple decks have recipes that combine cupcakes featuring two or more princesses. When players flip all three of the Mix, Bake, and Decorate tiles, it's time to draw a Recipe Card and work together to build the cupcake. Players continue to draw cards and build as many cupcakes as they can before the sand timer runs out. Players build cupcakes until all four Clock tiles are flipped over. Then, it's time for the party!

My daughter received this for her 4th birthday. Princesses and cupcakes? How much more girly could you get? Each cupcake has four interchangeable parts that make up 10 cupcakes total. The game comes with 'recipe' cards that dictate different combinations that must be built in the duration of the sand timer after flipping over cards. The timer lasts for one 'round' and the cards that permit you to flip the timer introduce a chance element, because 4 clock cards mean that the game is over and how ever many cupcakes you made so far is your final score. The really great part is that it is a 'team' game where we are all working together (no winners or losers! perfect for the tenderhearted preschoolers). At first my boys didn't want anything to do with the girly looking game, but when they saw us having fun assembling the cupcakes as speedily as we could, they couldn't help themselves and joined in too.

The only down side to the game I can contrive is that the parts are easily lost if your young children manage to make off with it in order to play house with the uber cute tiny cupcakes. But when I contacted the company about extra parts they said they were currently providing replacements as a courtesy. (we found ours after all, so I didn't have to ask for them in the end... well, so far) I plan on making it one of our special by-request toys that has to be played at the table and picked up promptly.

My daughter (7) looooves this game. She's hardly played with it as she is supposed to. She just loves to put together cupcakes and making different creations. We have played the game and had fun with it though. The game is rather hard to explain to younger girls though.

This is such a fun game. My 4 year old loves it. The best part is that she can also just use the game pieces to play and have fun and make up games of her own.

This game was purchased for my daughter for her 7th birthday. As mentioned, the game is lots of fun, but contains a lot of small pieces...several of which were lost during play. I contacted Wonderforge, and the customer service representative answered my email both courteously and promptly. She mailed our missing pieces with no charge to us. It can be rare to find such responsive and quality customer service these days, and I was so impressed with the company. As to the game, even I enjoy constructing the cupcakes! It's a nice way to spend time with your kids.

This game is really fun to play. My daughter loves playing it with her friends. The pieces of the cupcakes are made out of a material similar to a pencil eraser.

My four year old daughter absolutely loves this game. I have to admit that I really enjoy playing it with her as well. The concept of the game is very simple and actually holds my daughters attention. I even use the game as a quiet time activity. I give her the mixed up cupcake pieces and recipe cards and she matches the pieces to the pictures on the cards . My only complaint is that some of the pieces do not connect smoothly. But besides that it is a great game.

Got this for my girl turning 5. She was fascinated by the little cupcakes and by the egg timer.
Very obviously the designer was asked to do something under $20 with princesses and little rubber cupcake pieces and didn't make a game playable by the age group they are targeting.
The game rules are really confusing and complicated. In order to get to the part where the cupcakes are assembled according to little "recipe" cards, the instructions are to arrange another set of 10 square chipboard cards face down and take turns flipping them over. If you get one Mix, one Bake and one Decorate you then do the cupcake assembly, but if you turn over all 4 clock pieces the game is over. Your little child is probably going to be confused into thinking it is some sort of matching game, because that is where she will have seen square, thick paperboard cards that people take turns flipping over. When we tried we got all four clock pieces first and game over - no cupcakes were made. In fact I think that is statistically most likely to happen.
It's hard to explain all this to a little one who isn't listening because she just wants to play with pretty little cupcake toys. No 4 to 5 year old is going to get the "wait until we see one of each but not all of those" rule. 3 year olds won't be able to put together the cupcakes - they are made out of that take-apart Japanese eraser material.
We just blew off the instructions and used the game by drawing cards and taking turns assembling the cupcakes and had a great time. I made it easier by arranging the different components of the cupcakes into groups rather than tossing them all together - if you can figure out which is "tall vanilla" and "short vanilla" great - but that's also going to be super hard for a 4 year old.

This is our 4-year old's second favorite game. She also likes memory and jigsaw puzzles. She doesn't grasp Chutes and Ladders and has mixed feelings about Candy Land.

Turns are quick. Very little strategy is involved. Since progress is nearly all "luck", no player will likely loose more frequently than other. Unlike some games, no single turn of luck grants a player a large swing towards winning or loosing. Instead of strategy, young players can focus on more general game concepts like taking turns. The cupcakes are beautiful.

Our child loves the "story" behind the game. We are making cupcakes for a party. If we draw 4 "ding-dong" tiles (clock tiles), it means the party is here and "oh no! the cupcakes aren't ready!!" We feign hysteria and fawn over our decadent treats. Although we recognize the winner as the one that completes their cupcake order first, our child insists we continue to role until all the cupcakes are complete. After which, she brings her dolls to the table and has a tea party.
