If there's one thing little girls love even more than horses or princesses, it's horses AND princesses! Now this classic combination gets the deluxe Disney treatment, as Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White embark on all-new adventures with their noble and devoted horse friends. Join Belle in her efforts to cheer up the mysteriously melancholy Phillipe; marvel at Cinderella's decision to enter poor, clumsy Frou (the horse with four left feet) in a royal horse show; and gasp out loud at Snow White and Astor's daring rescue of the missing Prince! This beautifully illustrated storybook is chock-full of adventure, romance, and humor. Guaranteed to become an instant favorite with little girls and their parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast Fan Approved!, November 15, 2007
By
This review is from: Disney Princess: The Enchanted Stables (Hardcover)
I usually pick up Disney books based more on artwork than anything else. I'm an adult fan and while items like this are obviously marketed to children and parents I do miss that universally appealing magic Disney used to have.

Now a days the Princess world is a landslide of pink merchandise that has little or nothing to do with the original movie, or if it does it's a rehash of the movie with the same crappy clip art Disney has been reprinting for the last 10-16 years. IE: Nothing that is truly new or entertaining.

Beauty and the Beast fans usually run into the "Beast Bad, Belle Sad" plot line. With the way the original movie was written Disney creative staff doesn't really have much to work with outside the scope of the original film. The result is usually boring or just ridiculous.

This book is a clever and refreshing twist on the Princess story book/Beauty and the Beast relationship. The story and artwork is completely new and the artwork is FANTASTIC.

Disney has finally given up on figuring out how to squeeze the Beast into the story and made way for an all-human staff and a human Prince. The result was a very nice story that everyone can enjoy. In the Princess line the Princess is of course the star so little girls will still get what they came for, their favorite princess, big pretty dresses, and maybe a little romance. Adult fans will find the continuity and new material refreshing.

Each of the three stories were drawn to match the original styles of the movie. This book really reminds me of what Disney used to be and what fans used to expect from them. I would highly recommend it to any fan or parent!

Also I'd recommend Disney Princess: More 5-Minute Princess Stories (Disney Princess) for all the same reasons. Great art, new stories! Keep them coming Disney!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stories for children who love horses and princesses, November 9, 2009
The three stories in "Enchanted Stables" features three beloved Disney princesses, i.e. Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle. The stories are a decent length, not too brief nor too long, and make for perfect reading at bedtime or rest time for young children, ages 4-8. The first story is "The Heart of a Champion" which sees Cinderella competing (in place of her father-in-law the King) in the annual Royal International Horse Show with her horse Frou, with some spectacular results. In the second story "To The Rescue", Snow White's Prince and his horse Astor take a trip without Snow White but when the Prince's horse returns without the Prince, a concerned Snow White rides off looking for him and gets some help from her friends, the seven dwarfs. In the third and final story "A Friend for Phillipe", Belle's beloved horse Phillipe feels gloomy and it is up to Belle to lift his spirits!

Every page is filled with beautiful full-color illustrations that capture the essence of each story, and young children, especially avid fans of the Disney princesses will love perusing the pictures whilst reading/ being read to. Excellent value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice drawings, cute story, February 10, 2008

This review is from: Disney Princess: The Enchanted Stables (Hardcover)
I really liked Belle's story. It had a proper story structure and wasn't silly or boring (like some of the other newer 'Princess' books). I also loved the artwork - very detailed.

One amusing thought ....If Belle's now a Princess (after marrying the Beast/Prince), why is she still wearing her blue/white 'village girl' dress in the castle?! Especially when the Prince is decked out in his fancy blue/gold ballroom suit! :)
