5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a 5 year old December 12, 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My daughter is 5 and has never been a video game fan. We've tried lots of DS games with Dora and other Disney Princess titles, but after a brief bit of playing them, she just isn't interested anymore.

This game actually changed that. She loves to color, loves to decorate things and do crafts - and the concept of this game allows that very nicely. She would sit there for hours filling in the colors if we let her :) And she really gets this sense of accomplishment when she completes a picture. The great news is that while "coloring" on the DS, she gets introduced to colors, numbers, etc so there is definitely educational value. The stories themselves in between sections aren't anything she can read yet, but hopefully the incentive to learn what they say will help get her interested.

The addition of Rapunzel and Tiana is really nice because you have the newer princesses mixed in with the older ones. Likewise seeing Jasmin is nice, because she is often left out of some other princess games/toys.

I would recommend this for 4 to 6 year olds, but much older, they honestly will probably be bored with the concept.

We liked this enough that we picked up the uDraw version for Wii as a Christmas present. Hopefully that will help interest our daughter in trying things out on the bigger consoles instead of just handhelds. Our son learned to read playing Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64, so we are firm believers in video games that disguise a bit of learning as a part of them :)

One final note - the concept of the game is simple enough that she figured it out on her own - we did not have to sit there and teach her how to play.

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I got this game for my 4 year old daughter who loves princess and especially Ariel. I like everything about the game except for all the reading. She can do all the activities perfectly fine on her own except she needs to be able to read to know what the directions are. I wish that this game was read aloud by the princesses then this game would be perfect! If you are getting this game for a child who isn't old enough to read yet be prepared to read to them so they will know what to do. After a time or two they will get the hang of it and now she can play it by herself. Even though she doesn't get to hear the stories she can do the activities and she loves the coloring part!

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Bought this game for my daughter recently and figured it would be great since there was only one review and that review was a 5 star rating.

We received it in the mail and my daughter couldn't wait to get it in her DS. Unfortunately all of the directions are written out, which my four year old daughter can't read yet. See seems to be doing mostly okay but was really frustrated at first.

Fun concepts but be warned it has nothing other than music and no spoken instructions.

This is a great game for my 3 year old. She wants to play the DS like her big sister but has trouble with the more advanced games. This is an easy game with characters she loves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Would be perfect if it read out loud!! April 2, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
We just got this for our 5 1/2 year old. It is frustrating b/c she can't read well enough to understand the directions. I think after helping her with it, that by the time she can read it, she will be too old to like it. The activities seem perfect for a 4 year old, if only a 4 year old could read. My daughter seems to really like it, but I regret buying it.
